TTC nearly 12 months. Should we see a GP & what test will they do?
Me (22) & my DH Gareth (20) have been TTC for for 12 months this August. We had a bit girl in February 2008 (she was concieved in 2 months) & near TTC#2 we just haven't had any luck. I have only just stared charting my temps say i have O'd but OPK's have be extremly faint (no true positive). So i dont really know if i am ovulating.
My chart:

We have not been to the GP to manufacture them aware we have been off Contraception for 12 months so how will they know we own been TTC for this long?
Also what tests do they do after you first visit & does it requirement to be a particular CD?
Thanks ladies :)
I agree with vicky .. but i have a sneaking suspicion that the first thing they test is your partners sperm count because its the "lowest invasive" but then ive never had to see a fertility doctor or anything im only babyish .. Source(s): 17yo mummy to 13 month old aiden
u have to see a fertility specialist not GP or u could go to your ob/gyn 1st and they'll do blood work test and base on that they;ll advise u how to proceed.
best of luck and sending you baby dust!!
Answers: Your chart looks excellent, especially because the vertical hairline matches near the ECWM prefectly. This is really important information that you should take to your doctor when you go and see him. I took adjectives my charts to the doc, and they said it was useful because that way you can avoid some of the silly carrying out tests. Also, it will help to convince them that you're been TTC for a while!
If you know you're ovulating, that's half the encounter. Some women never get good results with OPKs, so don't verbs about that. Seems like your CM is a better indicator of imminent ovulation than the OPKs are -- mine definitely was!
They'll do a couple of tests on you. First a blood test on CD5, for FSH and Estradiol, and later again sometime around CD21 (shortly after ovulation) to check for Progesterone levels. Another option might be to get a hand-me-down Fertility Monitor from eBay. It's a 'closed system' so there's nothing icky about getting a second hand one, but be sure to reset the system since you start because, contrary to the instructions, taking the batteries out won't do it. I found this out the hard way!
Wishing you and Gareth the best of luck! Source(s): TTC for 27 cycles, age 38
