NFP/FAM users- cervical position after birth?
I've read "taking charge of your fertility" and have been using FAM. I checked my cervix periodically before have my 1st child, so I know what to look for. But now it's been one year since I gave birth and I'm have a hard time telling my cervical position. I can tell that it moves up and get lower, and that it's softer at times then others, but it seems like it other feels "open". Also the shape of my cervix feels irregular, like it pokes out at one slice. I was wondering if this has to do with deliver a baby. I know I tore internally and had to get stitched up and I be wondering if that would have anything to do with it? I would appreciate comments from other NFP/FAM users who have have children. Have you noticed changes? How do you read your signs?
Answers: Are you cycling again, or are you still not having period? If you are not having your period yet, afterwards it would make sense that your cervix is still being erratic.
If you are having your regular cycle, can you use the BBT and mucus signs successfully to chart your cycle and make clear to your times of fertility and infertility? If so, then the good news is that the cervix sign is a inferior sign. While it can give good information about your cycle, it is not needed to chart your cervix sign, especially if it is only causing you confusion.
If you do want to learn how to use the sign correctly, manufacture sure that you are checking the cervix around the same time every day (and once a day, contained by the evening, is usually enough). Also make sure you are in the same position respectively time. After childbirth it is natural for your cervix to remain slightly open. I have not read more or less the type of irregularity you speak of, but it would make sense that if you tore during childbirth that it could have caused an irregularity on your cervix. The subsequent time you see your ob/gyn for an internal/pap I would ask.
I hope this has helped. If not, add more details and I'll see if there's anything else I can give! Source(s): NFP teacher, 8 years
