Anyone hold a successful pregnancy near hypothyroidism?

here's a lil backround information... been going to RE since 07 had rare ectopic.abdominal pregnancy within 08 removed by emergency surgery. (go figure) anyways tried another cycle feb of 09 and switched doctors this year also.. new doctor did blood work and found that i have hypothyroidism so she started me on synthroid 25mcg. so i have a few question .. first anyone have a successful pregnancy with hypothyroidism second can hypothyroidism be the cause of adjectives my fertility problems (excluding my endometriosis obviously) or a big factor in all this.. any answers are appreciated.. except smart ones, those will just be disregarded.. thanks ladies.
I don't know much about it, but I think it can be a huge issue in fertility. I go to my obgyn a couple of weeks ago and told her we were ttc. She suggested getting my thyroid tested b/c it's such an easy thing to diagnose, but can affect so tons areas of ttc. And we're only on our 4th cycle ttc, so it's not like she wanted to loaf until we were actually deemed infertile to trial my thyroid. So, hopefully it'll fix things for you. Hope you get some good news soon!
Yes, my Mother has hypothyroidism and did not discover it until after my younger brother was born. Before that it took her 7 years to get pregnant next to me, and then I was 9 weeks premature because on top of the thyroid problems my Mother also have a Incompetent Cervix. Both of which doctors think could have contributed to her infertility. (My brother and I are 2 years apart)

But even with my Mothers problems my bother and I are presently healthy adults in our late 20's.

I too am concerned since my Mother's sister have thyroid problems and now I have a cousin who has gone through 2 miscarriages and doctors are very soon testing her for hypothyroidism.

I hope this helps...good luck! - ::tot dust to us both::
Answers:    Yes, hypothyroid can certainly impact fertility, and if pregnant, can also cause miscarriages/fetal defect. Thyroid is an important part of the endocrine hormone system. If the hormones are off be a foil for, it can also impact the hormones involved in the menstrual cycle (FSH, LH, Progesterone, Estrogen). Even insulin can cause issues with the menstrual cycle (PCOS).

Had successful pregnancy (normal tough baby) with hyperthyroid condition (not hypo) but it was well manage. Hypothyroid is relatively easy to deal with and you can enjoy this addressed BEFORE getting pregnant, and you need to continue to be monitored during pregnancy and nick meds for it.

Good luck.
