100% for best answer! BBT and OPK. Help? Not sure what to do . . .?

Hi!
Ok, well, DH and I have decided to TTC and I'm currently surrounded by the middle of my cycle. I chart my AF visits regularly but I'm trying to unlock the secrets of this ovulation thing that not a soul talks about until they want a baby. My later period started on June 26 and I'm pretty sure I ovulated on either/in between the 9th and the 10th (CM . . same time frame and amount as every month).

Would it make sense to start doing the BBT thing presently or should I wait until AF visits next (should be the 23 or 24 of July)? (Unless as expected I did conceive -- we BDed: July 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 11)

Are there any books or (preferably) websites with good, thorough information on these things?

THANKS!!
Answers:    Hello! You really want to go to http://www.fertilityfriend.com and read through their information on bbt charting and everything that it can tell you. Getting the information from this "answers" site can be difficult as the answers are not always accurate. For example, the answer above -- your chart does not transmit you WHEN you will ovulate, it only tells you when you HAVE ovulated. Using the data you own charted for a few months, you can more accurately predict your ovuation dates, etc. I would recommend charting your bbt in conjunction with using the OPK test monthly to best pinpoint your ovulation day. That is the method I used (along with Clomid even though I was ovulating) and I am presently almost 23 weeks along with a baby girl.

Good luck!
As far as the BBT, you can start charting the first day of your time or the day after you end your period. My doctor recommend starting the first day to get used to it, but you're really using the temps from the time you end until you ovulate. As you chart your temps, you will thought that when you ovulate (in a 28 day cycle, usually day 14) you temp will jump pretty significantly from your other ones. By this I niggardly, if you are graphing it you will see a definite spike. You should ttc within the next 12 hours after you see this spike. Oh, and remember, you must appropriate your temp right when you wake up, before you talk, drink, guzzle, or go to the bathroom. Keep a thermometer by your bedside and pop it in your mouth, but you have to be sleeping for at smallest 4 hours before you take your temp. I hope that helps. Source(s): RN specifically ttc! :P
