I HAVE PCOS. HOW LONG TO WAIT BEFORE TTC?
OK so i was pregnant in 2007 and had an delayed miscarriage at 22 weeks (still birth) it is said I had an incompetent cervix. I also had started taking metformin before I get pregnant and stopped after finding out I was pregnant. I have been bad MEtformin since Jan 2008. But now all my signs of PCOS are returning. I've read that women with PCOS might not hold healthy eggs or follicles. if that is the case I'm going posterior on metformin but wanted to know how long do I have to wait past my eggs are in a well enough condition to support energy.
First of adjectives, your eggs are fine now (and always were) even if you have PCOS. PCOS is a hormonal inconsistency condition; nothing to do with egg quality (that might be a problem next to age). The follicles & as such eggs do not develop properly because of hormonal imbalance. Almost all women with PCOS can and do bring back pregnant, just takes some time and help.
Metformin help manage insulin resistance which in terms help balance some of these hormones, so DO continue to take this. It will back with ovulation and getting pregnant. Also, continue taking metformin for the FIRST trimester of the pregnancy as well as progesterone supplementation. Again, the reduce risks due to any hormonal issues - after first trimester, placenta takes over, so usually it is fine after that.
However, the miscarriage that you had was all right into the second trimester. Incompetent cervix is a different issue altogether from PCOS. For this you need a cerclage / bedrest and may even progesterone supplementation throughout pregnancy (i.e close monitoring)
You don't need to wait - you are fine immediately, just need to keep taking metformin to relieve with ovulation and getting pregnant.
Good luck and hopefully cleared some of the confusion. Source(s): PCOS w/metformin,1 baby boy and one in the oven
You should really talk to your Dr.
If you have IC ( I am sorry for your unfair loss) you will entail to be monitored.. and may need the stich when you do get preg.
I started up metformin 3 months before TTC again.
Good Luck!
Answers: I have PCOS as well and I also had a miscarriage Dec 2007 ( I be 17 weeks along)...so I am very sorry for your loss, but there is hope, I have a 18 month older daughter who is healthy and so fun to be around.I saw a fertility specialist and was put on clomid (which did not work for me), so then the dr put me on Letrozole to sustain me ovulate which did work for me--I waited about 2 months after my miscarriage to try again and then 3 months of trying i be pregnant again and it was a success...(so 5 months after the miscarriage). Just stay positive and your eggs are and will be healthy when you settle on to try again, if I were you I would go to the fertility Dr and try now because next to PCOS it will take a little longer of trying --but it will happen Source(s): 18 month outmoded and PCOS
