IVF -- still bloated after egg retrieval; will it affect my embryo verbs?
I had my egg retrieval 3 days ago.
The first two days I looked 5 months pregnant and was in severe anguish to the point that I couldn't even stand up or walk. Very miserable.
I was finally told to drink a bunch of Gatorade and as of yesterday, the bloating has gone down greatly, but it's definitely still there -- concentrated mainly around my lower belly (whereas previously it came right up to my chest).
The pain is also pretty much gone -- it only hurts very soon if you press on my belly.
So I am no longer miserable but I am clearly still quite bloated.
So does the bloating have to be completely gone before they do embryo verbs, or will they still do it? I am scheduled for embryo transfer in a couple days and want to know if there's a randomness they'll cancel it?
You are bloated due to the hyper-stimulation that have occurred. This will not affect your transfer. Take it easy, drink your fluids, and biddable luck with your transfer. Source(s): 2 IVF cycles
If you are bloated simply from having your insides tinkered with, next you will be fine. If you have a mild OHSS, you should be fine also, just moderate to severe OHSS is what you need to verbs about. Considering you are 3 days out and aren't in considerable pain or have trouble breathing, I think you are good to go. Of course, your doctor have final say.
I had to reschedule due to moderate OHSS but I was really miserable. Good luck!
Answers: Sounds like you got a touch of OHSS. I did my later IVF cycle. Keep drinking the Gatorade and V8 if you like it. It really helped me.
I don't think they will stop it since the pain is subsiding. The bloating does not have to be gone and won't be gone. It takes awhile for it to subside. Your ovaries grow hugely large and you do retain more water when you are using the stimulation medications. Know that if you do draw from pregnant the OHSS can come back a bit. Keep drinking the fluids and contact your doctor if the pain gets worse, you are acquirement weight fast, or not releasing as much fluids that are going in. I am sure you will be premonition great by the time you have your ET!
Sticky vibes!
