TTC give support to please. Using OPKs for the first time. Advice please?
ok so yesterday my OPK was positive so i had intercourse at about 4 pm. today, i took another and the second string was faint but still very clearly evident. unfortunatly, i was not able to have intercourse today, due to my partner's work calendar. should i have had sex today? any other tips would be very useful and greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.
Answers: Don't hysterics, life often gets surrounded by the way :-) When you first detect a positive with an OPK, you have between 48 and 72 hours to hold intercourse. You can also have sex on the day of ovulation and be in beside a chance. This is what happened to us on the month we actually conceived after 16 loooong months of trying :-) I ovulated on the Wednesday - we have sex on the Monday and Wednesday.
Are you charting your temps too? This can also help you find a pattern as to when you usually ovulate, if your ovulation is regular. I highly recommend fertilityfriend.com and just wish I'd known about it sooner. It's friendly, remarkably helpful and lets you chart everything, advises when to own intercourse, etc.
Best of luck. Remember you only have a 25% chance of getting pregnant every cycle and it take most couples up to a year. :-)
