How long did it lift...?

I'm just wondering how long it took for everyone to conceive their first child. Or, if you're currently trying, how long have you been trying?

Also:
Were you actively trying (monitoring ovulation, etc)? or be you taking a "lets just see if it happens" approach?
I tried for years with my fiancee we actually broke up over it 5 years of trying and getting nothing cause alot of stress but then I met my now husband a year later and I get pregnant after dating 6 months!! If your trying and focusing on it then your brain actually sends messages to your body that your stressed and is a high risk for a pregnancy so your body raise progesterone levels which makes pregnancy not happen .. I know it's tough but you have to live your life and let it occur when it happens.. You can try monitoring and all that but honestly after what i went through it's to much stress! polite luck!
First pregnancy at 25 and toddler boy~ We weren't trying but he was definitely wanted... it be the first month of an "oops" I guess you could say. :)

Second pregnancy, just turned 30~ first month conceived, but lost the pregnancy at 5 1/2 weeks

Third pregnancy at 30 1/2 and baby girl~ Second month trying

Fourth pregnancy at 36 1/2 and infant boy~ Sixth cycle trying

THIS MONTH~ Fifth pregnancy (at just turned 38)...on the first month trying! I NEVER expected it to happen so fast, but it's wonderful word. We took a 'lets see if it happens' approach and I guess we found out what happened only 5 days ago. We're expecting a infant in March!

For the last two pregnancies, I did pay attention to fertility signs. With my pregnancy past this one, I actually started charting my temps on the month I got pregnant. My temps stayed up and sure enough, I be pregnant. I was trying to use ovulation tests, but I wasn't sure if I was missing the time...or not ovulating, or what. Those can be tricky. I also be dealing with an infected tooth, which I was also on antibiotics twice for over the first three months of trying. I don't know if my body responded to the stress of that, but I did finally get pregnant!

Ooops, I purely noticed you only asked about the first child, but I thought I would bequeath an overview of my experience over the years.

Good luck!!
i tried for 10 months. The 10th month, we stopped tracking ovulation and relaxed. We had sex every other day after my extent ended. That's the month we got pregnant.
I am one of the lucky ones. It took us two months of trying. I am 5 weeks pregnant, almost 6, and still nervous. I don't have my first doctor visit until subsequent week.

We were actively trying. I had been monitoring my basal body warmth for 3 months and also watching my cervical mucus. I also talked to my OBGYN ahead of time to ask his advice.
Answers:    Have been stale BC since Feb '09...AF came a month later...then wait 3 mos for AF to come back again. Thought I was on a roll and this would be my first cycle really monitoring CM and using OPK's but here is it cd 23 and nothing even so...I'm really getting frustrated. I'd like to say I'm TTC but I don't feel I can even try when I don't know if I'm even ovulating.
I stopped my b/c in September 2008, got pregnant in December 2008, Miscarried surrounded by January. So I have been trying for almost 6 months with no luck even so. I was kinda of taking the lets see what happens, but I be paying attention to my CM.
