Brown blood when interval is due?
For the past several months, around the time I'm expecting my period, I'll get brown spotting for 3 or 4 days until that time my actual period starts. From looking on the internet, I've read that it could mean some problems, either low progesterone or a sluggish uterus. My husband and I are TTC, so it's frustrating and concerning.
Right in a minute, I've been spotting brown blood since Friday morning (it's now midday on Monday.) It's not enough for a wipe, but I've been wearing one constantly because I keep expecting my period to start.
I call my OB's office today, but the woman answering the phone said they aren't usually concerned with brown blood. I don't take her word for much, obviously, since she's not a doctor, but I'm just wondering if I should be more concerned and if I should push for an appointment. We've been TTC for about 8 months and I'm 34, so I demonstrably have other fertility concerns, and I hate to let something jump too long without figuring out what's going on.
Anyone go through this and what be the cause? Should I push for an appointment with my OB or just hold on to an eye on it as the woman at the office suggested?
Answers: Spotting at least 10 days after ovulation or 10 days of high bbt's can possibly be considered mundane. You need to have a luteal phase of at least 10 days to allow a sufficient amount of time for implantation of the fertilized egg. The luetal phase consists of the days from after ovulation to the year before your next period. The time between wishes to be 10 days or it is considered a luteal phase defect. Bleeding/spotting in the luteal phase cannot always be considered majority.
Spotting for a few days before your period can indicate that the corpus luteum is breaking down to early, cause premature shedding of the uterine lining. With out a sufficient luteal phase, implantation can be difficult. I would be firm and request to see the dr. It may be nothing but it may be signs of anything from thyroid issues, polyps, fibroids, edometriosis, etc.
Good luck to you :)
Hi,
I can't give you a solution but I required to let you know that I have had indistinguishable thing a few times also this year and it IS very strange. Same as you, brown blood spotting before my interval which in my case then in fact stops and then comes back and is following by an extremely heavy and throbbing period. I have an appt with the Gynaecologist contained by September (great health service, eh?). This has happened to me twice within the last few months but is completely new for me. It has coincided next to my partner and I TTC. One of my girlfriends suggested it might be implanation followed by it not being succesful and the tissue being discarded. Of course, she is not a doctor though. In any case, any abnormality in your cycle should be looked at, so do insist on an appt. And good luck, I'd be interested to hear what they tell you.
