Is my 3yo capable surrounded by lexis?
My son has just turned three. He correctly uses terms such as:
Predicament
Invented
Arrangement
Alphabet
Appreciate
Wonderful
Sensational
and say things like:
"I'd like to build a train track, do you feel similar to helping me."
"Thank you for doing that for me Mummy, I really appreciated it."
He can count to 18, recognises every letter of the alphabet, can spell out any word, and can form letters like H, T and O. He recognises words approaching 'play', 'select', 'turbo'.
We find that many people are gobsmacked by his speech. Do you think it is in the normal range for a boy his age?
Congratulation are on the way. he is brilliant just carry n near whatever you are doing.
Children's minds are like sponges they absorb really quickly so plzzzz carry on with agile play and if he is already recognizing words why don't you start on the reading part... save you lots of troubles for the years to come
My son was very voiced as well. I find that people expect less from boys and tend to be more surprised by their terms proficiency than they would be with a girl of equal age. Kudos on using a mature vocabulary around your son and not dumbing down your vocabulary around him - it's really paying off! He sounds advanced contained by this area, but I'd avoid labelling a child as gifted this early, knowing that kids develop different skills at different rates. Source(s): Mommy and elementary mentor
It sounds like he is above regular to me!
My 3 year-old also like to say complicated words but he usually messes them up!
Answers: NO way is that common. You have a little boy genius! He's appreciably very very intelligent and polite. I'm sure you're proud. Statistics show, however, that kids who learn to read younger and at a faster rate than other kids expire up feeling like they have to be fail-safe when they become teenagers and young adults. Or they become bored, and just tired of feeling resembling they have to be perfect at everything. One thing psychologists stress is when your child have done something amazing, don't say, "You are amazing" because it actually puts pressure on them. Say something like, "that looks amazing!" or "I really close to that you did that (specific thing.) Just let him experiment with his intelligence and see where on earth it leads him. :-) Congratulations lol.
you have a totally smart boy in your hands. you should be proud.
How adorable!! I don't know about "gifted" per say but her sure does give the impression of being ahead of the curve in vocab for a little guy his age.
It might be useful for you to check out the other things that a 3yr old can do
and double check he's up to speed there as very well!
Ideas?
Get himself dressed?
Clean his teeth?
Do something he might not want to do?
Take turns?
Sat and listen when you read together?
Feed himself with utensils?
Drink from a mug?
Share his toys?
The reason I'm mentioning this, is that bright little lads like this one.can sometimes win all introverted and refuse to either associate in or meet us lesser mortals partially way!
enjoy him and have lots of fun along the instrument, because that's the very best thing you and your child can ever do
