DOES YOUR 4 YEAR OLD LIKE COLORING BOOKS?

I thought every kid liked coloring books. My sons 4 and I can't get him to sit longer than a couple of minutes coloring ? I am just interested within others, does your lil one sit and color? Is it a boy thing?
4 year olds love coloring books!
Maybe hes growin up fast
My older daughter (now 6) has never really cared for coloring. Having to stay contained by the lines was frustrating for her at 3 and 4. She also just prefers to create her own pictures/words, so she does better with a blank piece of rag. And for her, it's not an issue of attention span because she'll sit and read, do a craft, or play by herself for an hour or more. She just really doesn't like to color very much.

My younger daughter (4 1/2) like to color and seems to prefer that over drawing her own pictures. She does a nice job of staying in the lines, and she truly gets more frustrated when trying to draw on her own because she's not able to draw as well as she'd resembling.

Both my girls love crafts that involve scissors, glue, stickers, etc., so your little guy may just need to create something on his own.

I wasn't a big aficionado of coloring as a young kid, but grew to enjoy it as an older child (age 8-12 or so). I remember that my 6th order teacher would give us coloring pages to work on while she read to us after lunch/recess. I even colored sometimes within high school while I watched TV or talk with friends because it was a nice way to relax.

I wouldn't stress give or take a few the coloring or even assume that it's a boy thing. It just may not be *his* thing.
My 4 year old loves coloring books but is the same process. He can't sit still long enough to do it. I talked to his preschool teacher and she said its completely everyday for his age group to do this. He will eventually calm down and be able to sit longer to do it. If he can't color in the lines even so he might be discouraged too. He'll get the hang of it and be able to color you divine refrigerator artwork!!
My now 5 year old has never really like coloring books. He loves to color and draw though, but he likes to do his own thing. Every once in a while he would color a coloring page, but he never asks for them and never would attain one on his own. Some kids are just into different things. I don't think it's a boy thing. I have an idea that it's your son's personality.
Answers:    All of the kid's in my family loved coloring and nearby is six of us, 3 boys and 3 girls.
Most boys are like that. I could never sit for too long either as a kid and my sons are the same. It's a moment ago normal for that age group not to sit long for a long time. they like to do things that envole getting up and moving.
Developmentally - kids regularly don't see the pictures in coloring books. Giving a blank piece of paper is about like to them. And they are not really creating anything until they are older (3 years and up or so, depending) they are just experimenting with what happen if they move the crayon certain ways, etc.

He could just not care for coloring. I've set kids that will sit and paint or color for as long as you allow them... and I've known those who make a few lines on the paper and pace away.
my boys wouldnt when they be 4, now that they are older they love it though. but my girl loved to color when she was 4.
