1 Year Old Birthday .. What type of frosting for cake?

My son is turning 1 in August!! :)

I'm going to make his birthday cake, but i think regular store bought frosting may be for a while TOO sweet for him. Do you have any suggestions on other "not so sweet" frosting I could us?

I thought about using Cool Whip, but I dont know how well that will hold.

Answers:    Cool Whip will hold up in recent times fine as long as you keep it in the fridge until you are ready to serve it.
If your little one isn't into the super sweet regular frosting, I assume the Cool Whip idea is a good one. You could make a jell-o cake, they are natural and fun.

With my children, on their first birthday I baked them their own cake, usually small and one that they could destroy on their own. I would put just a thin amout of frosting on it for them, and afterwards the family and guests could have the "normal" cake.
