4 year dated who think he's discussion to you but we can't comprehend his words?
My just turned 4 year old grandson is a smart little thing. He can sit at the computer, verbs up and open games to play on his own. He can drive an electric car @ 5mph and steer very skilful, reverse the whole bit. He understands whatever we notify him. When he speaks it's not understandable. He tells wonderful stories with expressions, gesture and even voice imitating but you can only catch an occasional word. He is speaking some, usually single words or small phrases that are intelligible, but he usually misses the consonant sounds. ie: his favorite hair cut is a "hohaw" (mohawk). His Mom has had his ears checked but I still wonder if he's not audible range the sounds that he;s not saying so he thinks he's saying it right.
Does anybody hold any ideas which direction we might head to improve this problem?
He be in a program at school the 2008-09 year and will be in preschool again the 2009-10 year. It's help some but not all that much.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
own his hearing checked again, thouroughly, by a specialist. eleminate any problem there. then possibly a speech shrink who works with little ones. they can really help put sounds and words together and make it fun for him.
not adjectives kids talk right at first. my daughter is almost four and still has a hard time near a lot of words. just be patient. it will come surrounded by time.
My brother has 4 kids who I see deeply. His first girl is 4 now and speaks very clearly. His first son is 3 now and you can hardly understand him. It just depends on the child.
You said his school program help a little bit. Maybe have his mom get him tested at college. He might qualify for special education while he gets his hearing checked and see a speech pathologist to determine the cause.
No matter what you do, good luck to you, your grandson, and his mother!
Answers: My neighbor had this problem beside her son. He wasn't taking the time to listen to what he was saying. She took him to a speech therapist in a minute he has gotten a lot better. He is now 8 and is reading at 9th class level, he's a very smart and creative boy.
Sounds like a hearing problem he isn't hearing the words he is mortal told.
