My toddler sleeps within the afternoon so I diary around it. Am I the singular one?

Because I have a 5 year old too. The library programs for him are always at 2pm and his friends from preschool want to hold playdates in the afternoon. Am I a weirdo for not attending a lot of these because of the sleep schedule? It does swing but not because I plan on it.
I do the same thing because I know if my little girl isnt surrounded by her bed for nap by 12pm she is NOT a happy camper. I did this with my other 2 kiddos too
Not at adjectives. You are prioritising the needsof your children. Maybe your 5 year old could go on playdates to other people's houses whilst the little one is sleeping? If it is a sunny day, consequently you can always have his friend round to play in the garden whilst the toddler sleeps.

The afternoon rest time is a great opportunity to spend quality time with your 5 year old.
No your not weird, you dont want a cranky 2 year old giving you a headache and neither does anyone else. Do whats best for your baby and you.
You're not unnatural.you're a GREAT MOM! Toddlers need their naps. And I did the same entry... from 1:30pm until 4pm, I couldn't leave the house because my son would nap. People always invited me over for an afternoon playdate and we a short time ago couldn't.

I always tried to do most activities in the mornings, from the time he woke up (6:30 or 7am) until lunchtime.
Answers:    Not at all - I have a 9, 5 and 2 yr old and we plan most actions after 3 pm MOST DAYS. If there is something that we really want to do then he skips his nap or sleeps surrounded by his stroller and we just deal with it. I aversion to limit my older ones activities but that is to say just how it is for now.

Try to have playdates at your house sometimes or plan them for quicker and have the friend over for lunch. I have found my toddler tolerates a little bit following nap (going down at 1 or 2 pm) better than no nap at all.
Keeping to a solid routine is the best piece for the kids.

Stick to your guns and they will benefit the most. Source(s): Father of 2 under 3
I'm right in attendance with you! I have a 3 y/o who wakes surrounded by the morning at around 7-7:30 and an 18 month old who sleeps til 10-10:30. They eat lunch at 12:30. They usually nap from 1:30 -3:30 so it sometimes feel like we're the ONLY people who don't go out as much as others. I enjoy 2 friends that also have young kids and sometimes they don't nap AT ALL! There is no course on God's green Earth that I would take my kids anywhere without them being fully rested. So what if we lone get out for a couple hours at a time? At least we make the most of! So, that's what you should do! You should never get the impression like a weirdo for putting your kids needs before a everything else! Kudos to you!!
Actually that's pretty smart. You should start out some more parenting tips on this site for new moms.
