My 16 month weak daughter go to bed in the order of 9 pm, and wake up nearly a couple of times still. What do we do?
I am going to get tons of thumbs down but I am a mother of 3 and have experience with this issue so:
She is elderly enough that she should be sleeping through the night by now. However, she is used to this shape that has formed. You HAVE to let her cry it out. My four year old and two year infirm still sleep with me because I used to do exactly what you do, my in-laws were living with me and I didn't want them wake up so I would grab my children and sooth them and put them in bed with us. Of course immediately, they are used to it and even though they have their own bedrooms they still sleep with us. They fall asleep and after are placed on a blanket bed on our bedroom floor because more often then not they wake up within the middle of the night and climb into our bed OUR start crying until they get their way.
I also hold a ten month old daughter and I was so exhausted from my other two that from the start I made sure I did things differently with her. She go to bed at 7:30 p.m. and sleeps through the night until about 8 a.m. She's an angel! I don't let her topple asleep in my arms or in my bed. When I see she is sleepy, I place her in her crib (In her room) tuck her surrounded by, turn on her mobile and close the door and she falls asleep on her own! YAY! With my other ones its a slow change... baby steps. Your daughter is still young plenty that you can pick a weekend and change the habit.
Make a comfy routine for her. A snack before bed... tub... teeth brushing... story time and tuck her in. You can sit quietly in the room until she falls asleep or you can bestow a night light for her and see what happens. If she get up and comes to your room, bring her back to hers reassure her and keep doing that. You might lose a weekend but it will be worth it in the long run. You also requirement to put the MIL in her place. They try to help and I get that but its not helping you to own a 16 month old getting up in the night.
Good luck, hope I help.
