Daughter is getting ear tubes tomorrow and I am worried.?

My daughter is having ear tubes put in tomorrow morning and I have to concede I am a nervous mess. My son (her twin) had to have an MRI when he be about 7 months old and I was a jittery mess then too. Seeing your child under anesthesia is very thorny. I am really worried.
I know that this is a simple procedure that is done millions of times everyday across the world, but that really doesn't make me feel any better. So I guess my cross-examine is what should I expect? How long after the tubes are in will it take to notice a cash in her hearing? What about bathing her? How can I wipe up her hair without getting water within her ears? And to anyone whose child has had tubes, is there any affliction, will she be cranky?
I was a nervous wreck when my daugther had tubes put surrounded by at around 1 year old. She actually took it a lot better than I did.

It's almost other done as an outpatient procedure. You'll go to the hospital on the morning of surgery, the nurse will start and IV, blood work will be drawn (or they may do it the day before), then once everything's in position, they'll take the child back to surgery. You and your family will keep on in the waiting room. The procedure is over pretty quickly. It seemed approaching only a matter of minutes before the Dr be in the waiting room talking to me and my family, relating us how wonderfully my daughter did. Less than an hour after my daugther was taken to surgery, she was back contained by her room in the outpatient surgery dept. They watched her for a little while, monitored her breathing and heart rate, made sure in that was no bleeding, and then we were allowed to vacate.

I was ready for a cranky, fussy baby when I get home, but she was wide awake and ready to play. It be hours before she was even ready for a snooze!

The tubes almost always fall out on their own, usually in 6-12 months. You'll want to preserve as much water out of his ears as possible. You can use child sized ear plugs for the bath tub. It makes things rather more difficult, but instead of lying him back in the tub, leave him sitting and rinse the shampoo from his hackle with a large cup of water. That keep a lot of the water out of the ear canal.

Good luck! Remember, your babe will pick up on your anxiety, so try to stay as calm as possible! Source(s): Mom of one; pediatric nurse.
I would be a nervous wreck it it be my son too.

My husband had to get that done because of constant ear infections and he said it helped him plentifully.

I know it probably won't make you worry less but I guess a short time ago try to keep in mind that it will be better for your baby.

Hang within there! She will be just fine with like mad of love and support from her mommy!
Answers:    i got ear tubes in. they dont hurt and they usually fall out when they're primed. it wont take long for hearing to change! i have the tv up on like 50+ when i left the house, i came backbone and put it on 20. they work so well! bathing her-they give u special ear plugs tht have to be replaced or u can buy some cheap ones at a drug store. she wont be cranky, I don`t know some confusion. if u have any other questions ask a doctor but they really are useful. conceivably every 3 or 5 months one of her ears will drain water, this is perfectly normal. her ears are getting rid of wet. ive been there, done tht, still doing it=] Source(s): experence
