I NEED HELP WITH POTTY TRAINING!!?
trying to potty train my step son. he is three years old and just doesnt want to use the potty. can anyone give me an accurate tips or ideas!!
I have to start by saying that I hold a girl, and they might be totally different than boys. All my friends with boys are having BAD trouble in this department. But heres what worked for me.
1. Take away any sort of diaper. I know it is going to be a dull pain in the butt washing pants, but trust me on this. Kids would much a bit be able to keep playing and be wearing something that draws the moisture away. Those pull ups that utter they alert the kids to when they are wet...uh..duh, regular underwear will do the same thing
2. Let them pick out their own underwear. I don't caution if they pick out the $8.00 for 3 pair kind. *Thats what my daughter did*. Bite your lip and tell them how ULTRA COOL those underwear are. Get them psyched. And consent to him know that if he wets them, the ultra cool underwear are gone until you can wash them.
3. Potty time potty time potty time. With my daughter, we go potty the second she wake up, and every two hours after. If you go out of the house, potty time before you walk out the door, THE SECOND you pace into where you are going, BEFORE you leave where you are at and THE SECOND you pace back in the door. And then another time before bedtime. THEY LOVE ROUTINE!
I hope that helps. My daughter is going to be 3 in smaller number than 2 months, and is fully potty trained *she does have accidents if I don't follow my own rules mentioned in #3, but is biddable most of the time.*
I've heard of people who did great with potty training their kids, but next to our kids, I can't imagine it being worth the stress. Changing diapers is so much nicer than trying to find dry clothes after an "accident!"
Our oldest child is 6. She be out of diapers soon after she turned 5, but she still wears one at night. Our other kids are 2 and 4. They are interested in the potty, but not consistently. We permit them go diaperless at home when they ask, but if they "leak" they go right back surrounded by diapers. That way, they can train themselves when they are really ready.
Answers: When my son was 2 we took his nappy of and put him in pant. Every half an hour we took him to the bathroom a he would try de do a Pee. I was very surprised that he Only have two or three accidents and with in a week he be going to BATHROOM on his own. If your little one doesn't want to use the potty:
1 let him try the regular loo with a SOFT adapter seat.
2 transport him to the shops and let him pick his own potty or portable loo. Make him feel part of it.
3 explain that he is a big boy and nappies are for babies.
4 enjoy lots of patience.
5 take his nappy of and say that that's it. During the daylight he can be in the garden so if he wets himself or worse there's not so much of a problem.
GOOD LUCK Source(s): Mother of a little boy ( very soon 6)
Work on him every half hour. It'll be hell but you have to do it. Get some pull up diapers and for a time potty and every half hour make him stand there and pour thaw water over his bits until he goes. The warm marine does work, and the reason it must be so frequent it because you want to catch them before they stipulation a wee. Also get a target to stick inside the potty to teach him to aim.
Be persistent! No concern how many accidents just maintain at it, he needs that stability.
For urinating, turn it into a game... They sell "targets" for boys to try to pee on...or even put a cheerio in.
For pooping, bequeath a treat once he's done...like a couple of m&ms.
I had the same problem with my 3yr out-of-date. I listen and did what my husband told me to do. I lived him naked only with his shirt and every 30 min I would pilfer him to pee at the toiled. If is possible ask your husband to help you taking him to the restroom every time he cans when he is in the house. That really worked for me. Also I checked out some books in the region of going to the potty from my local library. Is not going to be easy but if you are persistent he will get the point. My boy still have accidents, most in the house, but his know where and when he inevitability to go. GOOD LUCK!
Hi there, I read your potty question and I take to mean your frustration!
I used to have a similar problem to yours.. I had a hard time training my toddler to be potty-trained.
I get this book called "Potty Training in 3 Days" (recommended by my pediatrician) and it's amazing! Although they said it takes with the sole purpose 3-days, mine took roughly around 4-days. But it's amazing how quick he have learnt! I recommended this to my friends and they be amazed too!
Here's the book that I recommend:

I have 4 kids all grown now 2 boys 2 girls. I put them on the potty ever hour this give the hint this is were you go. And when they do turn reward with praises and hugs. I always gave mine a touch candy treat like a tootsie roll or a fruit roll-up. But never yell or scold them this puts dread and hurts them and then you will have a harder time to get them to walk.
get a cheap brand of cheerio cereal and throw almost 5-6 pieces in toilet have him try to "sink them"
uhh it should be easy at this age, I potty trained my son when He was 2 and he be like "daddy i fell!" and im like "oh ****!"
:p you'll do fine
Right the first big step is getting him to sit on it! That's a start! I'd advise when you stir to the toilet to take him up with you and plonk him on the potty while you go so he picks up on it.
Next i'd sit him on it and tender him a sweet or small reward, then take him off, after put him back and give him another sweet or small treat. Do this 3 times each time you progress up to the loo! He will begin to pick up on it. Obviously with his pants down and try and explain what his get to do. His probably just a bit frightened as it's a totally different experience for him!
All i can say is just make available him time!. When you've got a week to spare put him in pants adjectives week, and explain he can't wet these (but dont tell him off if he does!!) and every hour put him on loo! He'll soon swot!! Good luck.
Another thing to add is we went shopping next to my brother (3 yrs old) and asked him which pants he would like to wear, and kept telling him they be big boys pants! He choose pepa pig ones because there the ones he loved! That way he enjoy wearing them!
