11 month old-fashioned hitting herself on her go before?
My 11 month old daughter can have a bad ill will at times, but just two days ago she has begun hitting herself on the leader (like slapping)
we tried to stop her then my husband suggested ignore her which worked and she stopped at the time.
She did it again today,i was wondering how on planet does a child that age know to do such a thing to get attention..is it normal? and is it right to cold-shoulder her when she does it?
my younger brother use to do that. we ignored it and he stopped.
alot of kids do this, because they cant communicate through words, they slap them selves to show their frustrated and/or upset with something.
My son did this for a long time, about 12 months. it doesn't hurt them, and it's not so much for attention it's basically to show they are frustrated adn can't communicate how they are feeling.
Answers: it is totally normal, when my son was that age he would slam his head on the floor (hard) ignore worked and he stopped. i think they just do whatever they quality at the moment, trial and error. i know his spitting got him a ton of attention at first and when that stopped he moved on to playing with his poo and then onto the subsequent.
on a side note though if she starts doing this when she is older it is a real sign of stress. one of my kindergardners spend adjectives day rocking and hitting herelf. my supervisor punished her and told me to ignore her but instead i talked to her and her grandma and it turned out she be really sad her dad was in iraq and she be scared he would die (a five year old).
It's better to ignore it because she's doing it for attention. If she notice it isn't working, she'll stop.
LOL BABY suicider :)) Ingore her and she will stop hurting her head eventually :P
