Things to do babysitting. Any accepted wisdom?!?
I babysit a lot, and I'm wondering what are some good games and activities to do. Maybe some snack and food accepted wisdom too. But nothing to messy!
Answers: It really depends on the ages of the kids and what they like to do.
It's summer, so a lot of out door things
Kids I used to view of all different ages, both boys and girls loved obstacle courses. If the child is little make its simple things similar to "put the ball in the bucket", "run around the tree three times" etc. If the child is older endow with them more complicated things. Make them ride their bike around a series of cones then get off adn run to the grass to do a somersault or anything. Give them about 10 or so things. If you make one of them a water piece, they'll like it even more. "run through the sprinkler" or whatever. Time them and give them a 'prize' after a few times when they bring back their best time. (Ice cream makes a great prize in the summer) After a while change it up trade name them do different things or in a different order. I once had them run around the house three times and whack an outdated oak tree with a stick. They enjoyed it, even though to me it felt ridiculous. if you've get more than one kids with you about the same age, receive them compete, but do it more than once, and make sure both get a prize to prevent jealousy. Maybe play a part yourself? Or else supervise and encourage.
If they have a slide, put the hose at the top of it and call it a waterslide. Doesnt event if it doesnt end in a pool. They'll still enjoy it.
Talk to the parents and find out what clothes the kids can capture dirty in and let them play with some mud or something. Simple things save kids busy for ages.
Also, When I was a kid my best friend and I used to love to wash our parents cars. Maybe have two kids proposition to wash some neighbors car and again let them procure 'paid' with ice cream.
Or just set up for a moment wading pool in the yard. That kept me busy fro a while even when i be technically too old for one. Me and my friend would dance in it and hose is good for most anything.
