Potty training 21 month elderly...?
So I'm trying to potty train my 21 month old and she's just not very interested. She know what she's supposed to do she just doesn't want to. I know she understand because when I'm in the bathroom she say pee pee and points to the toilet but she just wont do it. I ask her if she needs to go potty and she say no and runs away when I know she needs to. I put the gerber training pants on her and she cried and brought me a diaper and wanted it pay for on. After her nap she woke up and I put her right on the potty because her diaper was dry so she needed to go she sit a few minutes and stood up and peed on the floor! Is she just not ready? Or is she going to be hard to potty train? She know she gets an m&m if she goes potty so she'll sit on the potty and wait for the candy but won't budge until her diapers back on...
We have a daughter who will be three subsequent month and we were very successful at having her potty trained by two. Why? Because she be ready. She literally hopped up on the potty one day and went. She be out of diapers from that moment on. We didn't do anything to make that happen, she was a short time ago developmentally ready.
To answer your question simply, it sounds like your daughter is not developmentally (and possibly physically) equipped yet. If she knows what she's supposed to do but showing resistance to actually going on the potty, that's a clear sign that she desires a few more months to adjust to the idea. That's perfectly normal at that age and it's a great sign that she is interested surrounded by the idea!
If I were you, I would keep giving her the opportunity to sit on the potty but don't place any expectations on her. She will turn on the potty when she's ready. For now, make sitting on the potty a fun time and other give her praise for trying. Source(s): I'm a mom
she'll find out when she get in high school that pooping surrounded by your pants is not cool Source(s): Mission Viejo High School Prinicipal
Answers: My son is 2 1/2 and still isn't totally there yet. My daughter be 2 and she took 2 weeks and was fully potty trained. I think its different for every child. It is a learning process. Try not to push her to much. Maybe put a sticker chart on the wall over her potty. And every time she go potty she gets to add another sticker. Whats her fav cartoon? I did dora for my daughter. Best luck!
If you're giving her the M&M previously she actually pees in the potty then she know that as long as she sits there for a min she'll get the candy and then know how to just pee in the diaper...you have to stick beside not giving her the candy if she doesn't actually pee in the potty...my 18 month old will pee contained by the potty and then gets her reward...and after she pees we stand up and clap and say "YaY'..she say yay even before i say it...it's one of those things where you own to be consistent and make sure you don't reward if she doesn't do it..otherwise whats the point in the reward
Some kids will stay in diapers a long long time just because diapers are so spongy these days, they don't feel the wetness.
You know your child best.she may or may not be ready. to for a time one, sitting there waiting to pee/poo is boring. First of all they need to cram to associate the sensation of it before knowing what it is.so you need to 'entertain' them a little until it happen.
Expect it to take a good two weeks. And it is constant training. Put her on the potty every hour (or 1/2 hour if they haven't gone) and give them a right five minutes on the potty. Expect accidents. If you are nervous she will know it...have a 'if it happen, it happens' attitude. If things are just not working take a break for a week or so and try again.
I read to my kids adjectives the time so when I started training them, we read a favorite book. Try running to faucet while they are on the potty...running water sometime triggers it :0) Consider getting her some special big girl panties...but she can only where them after she uses the potty.
1ST YOU GOTTA BE KNOW THAT ITS A MISSION POTTY TRAINING.. YOU GOTTA TAKE HER EVERYDAY, NON STOP TO THE POTTY..EVEN IF SHE DOESN'T DO NOTHING TELL HER WHAT A GOOD JOB SHE DID. CLEAN HER OR LET HER CLEAN HERSELF..AND SHOW HER TO FLUSH EVEN IF SHE DIDNT DO NOTHING..TAKE OFF THE PAMPERS FOR NOW ON.
SHE SHOULD NOT HAVE ANYMORE ON
PULL UPS AND ALL THAT DOESNT WORK
PUT HER UNDIES ITS THE ONLY WAY...YES SHES GOING TO PEE ON HER SELF COUPLE TIMES., BUT SHE WILL KNOW THAT ITS NOT A PAMPER ANYMORE...AND SHOW HER HOW TO USE THE POTTY..LET HER SEE YOU PEE. GIVE HER A STICKER, COOKIE, OR A LOLLIPOP WHEN SHES DONE..
MAKE HER A CHART.,..EVERY TIME SHE DOES PEE OR POOP LET HER PUT A STICKER ON HER CHART..
I KNOW IT GETS FRUSTRATING BUT SHES GOTTA PEE IN THE TOILET ONE DAY :) Source(s): THE DAY I STOPED BUYING PAMPERS WAS THE BEST DAY OF MY HUSBAND AND I LIFE!! LOL
