What animals and colors and such could your child identify at 22-23 months?

My daughter is 23 months today, and she only really readily identifies dog, fish, frog and bird and the color yellow. Which I in actuality think is pretty good. But just out of curiosity, what things be your child able to identify at this age. By identify, I mean able to point it out when asked? My daughter doesn't right to be heard much, but can find this things in a picture.
My son was able to identify most 'regular' animals by signature, sound and pointing them out by age 2 (some of the names were surrounded by toddlerese though). He just took an interest in reading more animal books than any other.
Colors... not so much. When he turned 2, he would only procure colors right about 50% of the time & I think that was of late luck mostly. He's 2.5yo now and can identify blue, brown and green all the time. Most times he gets pink & red too. He doesn't carry yellow which we've been working on lately.

Have you seen the sticker books where on earth the child matches up the sticker to a silhouette of it? Or the toddler 1st seek n' find books? Sounds like your daughter would resembling those types of books for her 2nd b-day :)
Hi,
my son at 23 months ( now 25 months) could identify by naming various animals, including cow, pig, horse, duck, snake, rabbit, squirrel, owl, crocodile, sheep, dog, cat , shark and turtle. He could also tell you the noises of most of them make. He could identify by naming most elemental colours including yellow, blue. black, white, pink green and purple. But I think this is because we have read alot of books together from an precipitate age, lots of which feature animals.
My daughter is 22 months and she doesn't know any colors yet, but she says and points to dogs, cats, fish, birds, cows, horses, pigs,mo… along those lines really.
She's a HUGE animal lover
My daughter is 21 months. She know all the primary colours, plus purple, orange and grey - also gold and silver. She can baptize every farm animal and the noise they make. By given name I mean actually say the nickname. She also knows lion, tiger, parrots, turtles etc. Most animals actually. She can also count to ten on her own and know all her letters (upper and lower case). She has specified these things for a few months now. I expect I will get thumbed down like DYOT but what can I influence? I am proud of my daughter's acheivements and I like to talk about them!
Answers:    My son is just about 22 months antediluvian and know/says: green, blue, yellow, purple, grey and red (right about 90% of the time). For animals he knows (but say the sound rather than the name) lion, dinosaur, cow, pig, bunny, donkey, dog, cat, duck and sheep. I think this is mostly due to his love of markers (washable thank goodness) and his Little People animals and Leap Frog Fridge Farm. Thanks for asking this question, I was wondering matching question the other day. I think kids come and go a bit but you're daughter sounds like she's where she should be. If you're worried buy some markers, I meditate my son learned a color a day for a while.
I own a 23mo; she's happy to tell us all the primary colours, and gold and silver, plus some weirder ones like magenta, and virtually every animal and bug that it's possible to find in a children's storybook/on a farm/in the courtyard. Skill-wise this is relatively old news; this and all shapes and junk mail and numbers to 20 have been down pretty well for a few months in a minute.
My daughter was identifying the eight key colors (red, yellow, blue, green, violet, orange, brown and black) when she be 20 months old. I bought her a book (brainy babies) where almost all kind of animals are there and i showed it to her like every day. I guess it be due to her constantly seeing it that she almost memorized all the animals in it. Though sometimes she gets it wrong. Make time to sit beside your child but don't do it like you are teaching her. Do it like you are playing beside her so that she will enjoy every moment with you and will look forward to your next sessions.
My son is not that great with colors.. but awesome with animals... Horse, pig, duck, chicken, copier, dog, cat, butterfly, spider, ant, toad, fish, sheep, goat, lizard, snake... a bunch more... but he's not too color savvy yet. I wouldn;t worry too much though, I don't know if my son is advanced or not, so don't take me as a braggart... I own no idea what average is.
When my son was 23 months old (He turned 2 on June 1st), He could identiy blue and yellow. As for animals, bird, dog, cat, cow, bug. He also know the difference between 1 and 2 and could identify. He also knew "Please," and "More" in sign language. And at 23 months he be using the potty chair.
It's different for different kids. Girls are generally more verbally advanced at this age.

If you want to enhance it, you could play with her on the the Kea Coloring Book. Soon satisfactory she'll also be adding "Dimetredon" and "Cerise" to her vocabulary! Source(s): http://www.keacoloringbook.com
