Toddler near darkness seperation anxiety?
My baby is 17 months old, both me and my husband work full time each doing shifts so we can look after her whilst the other works, she is not to desperate through the day, though does get distressed sometimes when i leave her. The biggest problem is at night, on going to bed we need to stay with her til she falls to sleep and during the hours of darkness she wakes constantly screaming until we go to her room settle her and she falls asleep, soon as we leave her she crys out again and will NOT settle until we move about back, we usually end up sleeping on her floor. This is playing havoc with our relationship as you can envisage and we are exhausted. She usually goes to bed at 8 and gets up at 5:30.
We have tried several strategies; settling surrounded by her in bed, leaving her til she is nearly asleep then disappearing the room, she just screams and stands up and continues to scream until we dance back in. We also tried letting her cry it out, to no avail and seem to breed her nightly waking pattern only worse.I hold on occasions put her in bed with us but she riddles around so much that afterwards neither one of us sleeps! I feel we cant let her cry it out on a night as one of us wants to get up for work at 5 and my elder daughter needs rest for school

WE ARE DESPERATE!!
Can she sleep on a mattress on the floor in your room?
my son did the same thing, we tried every strategy but consequently had to go back to the "cry it out" it took three weeks for him to settle down, but he is fine immediately. what are her napping patterns, I found that actually lengthening his naps help him a bit. Good luck
Answers: Let her sleep with you in your bed or surrounded by a seperate bed close to you. She is still young.
get her a talking toy bear and she will feel better have a sleep buddy.
