Could my son hold ADHD?
just wanted to add he does devour a healthy diet with meat, fish, and fruit and veg. not often he have sweets.
Not ALL children are alike. Sounds like he's of late behaving like a 'normal' boy to me.
as a student in psychology and enjoy done research on children with ADHD I have to tell you that if your son does catch a diagnosis of ADHD to keep him away from the medications unless he has an extreme travel case of ADHD. Research all the different methods of treating ADHD and choose what's best for you but a child of 4 is too young to handle the medication...they are approved by the FDA for adults but they don't know how they affect the developing mind of a child especially a young child. The medications could cause worse problems for your child after dealing with ADHD. I'm not going to try to diagnose whether your son has ADHD or not, he needs to see a psychologist for that (not a pediatrician because they aren't satisfactorily educated to diagnose it properly in most cases), but I wanted to tip off you on the medications for ADHD Source(s): Psychology student and did a research paper on methods of treatment for ADHD children
he sounds normal -get him outside for more helpful play. consult the pediatrician for medical issues.
If you think he might have some symptoms of ADHD, try reading a book call, "Allergies and the Hyperactive Child", by Dr. Doris Rapp. You can get this book for a very low price through used online booksites. The book will detail how foods can contribute to ADHD, and they do not have to be sugar. They can be other foods. The book offer detailed information and is very informative. It helped me, a lot, when my son be younger. Also try these Youtube references, one discusses bipolar:

Answers: Nah, don't worry about ADD or ADHD. So many kids are on tablets because if they're just being a kid they suddenly have some sort of medical problem next to hyperactivity. He's just a kid and it sounds completely normal to me.
he sounds pretty ordinary to me, although changing his bedtime to suit him is not a good idea. You are the boss of him not the other channel round. My son goes to bed at 8pm and he is 4 too so id say this time for bed is ok.
Id ask the doctor just about the link between that and bipolar, dont beat yourself up about it, if he have something there are ways to combat it im sure.
But to me he sounds normal...4 year old boys know what they want and will play you till they draw from it!
Please don't jump on the ADHD bandwagon right away. That "disorder" is so over-diagnosed contained by this country it is sickening. Most kids DO NOT have ADHD...it's just a convenient diagnosis for the pharmaceutical companies and the doctors who all kind big bucks off of it. 4 years old is way too youthful to make an accurate diagnosis anyway. He could simply be an active, distractable, young boy, which is adjectives. He will most likely grow out of it.
As for the speech delay, that can be due to a number of different things. You should own him evaluated. The public school system does that for free. They will also provide free speech therapy services. The speech delay could be a basis of frustration for him and it needs to be addressed, especially before he enter school. Good luck, and please...for the sake of your son, research everything and don't automatically listen to a doctor that diagnoses ADHD. Source(s): Plenty of personal experience and have 2 doctors and 1 psychologist in the family connections that continually fight against the ADHD baloney.
It is possible that because he is the baby of the family he plays up for a while. if you are worried about him take him to your G.P and tell him adjectives he's symptoms. Good luck. xx
NO! He does not! There is too many kids who are confused for ADD or ADHD kids. He's a four year old kid and you are a typical American mother. Wait it out until he's 9 or 10, then check. My diagnosis? He's a common 4 year old boy.
Whatever you do, permit a doctor look into it and not one of these lazy schoolteachers who try to "diagnose" every other child with it.
Well, it would be very complicated for anyone to give you a very accurate answer over the computer without have meet you or your son, but you are his mother, and you should follow your instincts. If you are concerned, you should call his pediatrician and have him screen. The worst thing that could tell you is yes he has ADHD, which is an extremely endurable condition. I myself was diagnosed as a child so was my husband. It is hereditary so we are watching for it surrounded by our own daughter. But it is something that you can learn to work through and live with very very well. The earlier you get it checked out if he does have it, the early you can help him to work through it. Good luck
I would like to add although this is as expected a judgement call to you. If he does have it, I would not go straight to the meds. Try other therapy first to help him deal natuarly, because some ADD meds have permenant side affects.
You should get him checked up. My step sister has AD-HD her mom also started to see it when she turned 3 or 4.
It sounds like he does have ADD (ADHD is the more complex/adult version I think)
You may wanna check it out beside a GP or something
Alternatively stick him on a good diet, with a lot of excersise..
he may just be human being a hiper kid but get him checked out i have it
It's possible but before you start to have it investigated, try making sure that he doesn't enjoy things that are loaded with sugar, especially fizzy drinks. Colourings are in many processed foods and these can also affect the ways of children. This seems like the most sensible route to go.
First stale, you cant compare your son to your daughter. Boys and girls are completely different when it comes to activity. Boys are always going to be rambunctious and everywhere, girls tend to be more tame (not other, but most times). I think lots of kids have trouble with bed time. They dont want to move about to bed because they think they'll miss something and they wanna stay up and have fun. Some children are just naughty and dont do as their told. I would not blame your child's behavior on ADHD. I personally dont believe in ADHD so maybe I'm a bit biased. But I think it could be the way you are disciplining or not disciplining him. Remember that all children are different and the track you discipline your daughter may not work for your son. Try different approaches, and in no way am I trying to bash on you and how you raise your children. I a short time ago suggest trying different ways of putting your son in check before you start popping him with pills.
Oh and also self behind on his speech... Does he live in a bilingual household, often times that will slow the speech study process down. If not, then you can always take him to a speech analyst. It's not uncommon for children his age to seek help through speech psychiatric help. I, myself as a child went to speech when I was 4 until I was 6 years aged.
