1 yr mature fussy eater... Am worried in the order of nutrition!?
My 1 year old is a very fussy eater & she has be very sick the last 2 weeks & didnt eat anything for 7 days & be hospitalized and lost a lot of weight... Now i need to build up her bulk again but she is so fussy & will only eat what she wants.. the ending week she has been eating with the sole purpose cereal with fruit for dinner as she refuses everything that i cook for her.
This is on average what she will eat on a day by day basis.. is this enough & is she getting enough nutrition as I am so worried & touch like a bad mum :(
When she wakes : Approx 50 - 100 ml milk from bottle (this be only re-introduced this week as she refused to drink due to illness)
1/2 hr later - 2 wheatbix's near milk & jar of fruit
Morning Tea- Youghurt or custard
lunch- Sandwich & jar of fruit
Afternoon Tea - Cheese & crackers
Dinner- She was eating Pasta before the bug but now she will only eat wheatbix near milk & fruit again.. :(
She refuses meat (will spit it out)
She will only eat a definite type of pureed pumpkin & no other vegies unless I hide them in her pasta (but she isnt eating that anymore)
I am at my wits expire & I dont know what else to do.. I have spoken to my doc but they dont seem to care... please relief.
devour and be healthy!
first off she already eats more than my soon to be 20 mos. try giving her more milk it will add calories to her diet and should minister to her to gain some of that wait back if that does not work five her pediasure it has vitamins and minerals also have calories and will help her gain her wait back
Lots of kids go off meat at nearly 1-2 years old. She's getting her protein from cheese and yoghurt, plenty of calcium, don't worry too much. Maybe try something like icecream if you want her to put on a bit of mass? Very few kids will turn that down. Maybe mix some raw beaten egg into the milk of her cereal? Dunno if you think it sounds icky but it truly tastes very nice and isn't dangerous, I have it all the time as a kid, i'd be some extra protein and fat. Source(s): Life
Many children are fussy eaters!
oErratic appetites are common between one and five years.
oSometimes life for children is too exciting to spend time consumption.

Your child's appetite vary.

I know how frustrating it is to have a fussy eater as I am going through that myself with my 15 month old.
I know it may not appear a lot of food to you (especially if previously she was eating deeply more) but looking on what you said she is getting a varied diet because she is getting vitamins from the fruit, essential fats and calories and protein from the cheese and yogurt and carbohydrates and grains from the bread and wheatabix, so I really dont ponder you need to be overly concerned (easier said then done, I know!!)
Let her build up her food gradually, she wont starve as she is still consumption something.
If you show that you are stressed or try and force her to eat it may have the opposit effect.
There was a stage where on earth all my son would eat was yogurt and porridge, he have slowly started to eat more up until last week when he caught a sickness bug and now he is ingestion about 1 piece of toast a day!! Im really hoping he gets his appitite rear legs again! but you're not alone.
Good luck
My 2 year old daughter is exactly equal and has been since birth. I think lots of kids are close to it.
Saying that, for her age, your little one seems to eat quite a bit within terms of quantity - especially given that she's recently be ill and will take time to regain her appetite. Also, remember that at one year she's not growing as fast and in consequence doesn't need nearly as much food as she once did.
And if she wants to eat X / Y /Z constantly for one week next give it to her - it's better than her not eating at all and kids adjectives have phases like it. It's normal way of life. If she"s still not feeling 100% then let her enjoy what she wants, it may be a comfort type thing too.
Childrens' tastes also adjustment with time, you might find that in 2 or 3 months she'll accept a much wider miscellany of foods. But whether she does or not, try not to make a big thing about it (and I know how tricky it is when your child doesn't eat believe me!) - the more fuss you make the worse it gets disappointingly.
As for her refusal of meat, if I was you I'd get her an iron supplement - in France we own a sirup for kids called Feromiel which my daughter takes quite regularly.
Another article to remember, which my doctor has told me over and over again is that children eat what they need to chomp through. Their body knows what it needs in lingo of quantity and insisting they eat more amounts to overfeeding. From the time that they are growing normally and developing okay ,there is nothing to worry in the region of.
Good luck and try not to worry too much
