18 month outdated sleeping customs?

my 18 month old girl was a brilliant sleeper, i would put her in bed at partially 7 and leave the room straight away an that would be it till the morning, however after goin down to france in may ( we drove 14 hrs) she just will not stir to sleep,
even though she is really tired she just cries if i put her in bed,
i've tried staying with her but she simply puts her arms out to be taken from the cot and i've tried letting her cry but that hasnt worked either so i've been having to nick her in the car or pram every night!! contained by which she sleeps after about 5 mins,
any suggestions would be appreciated!
i've considered a toddler bed but then i know she would just bounce straight out!
is she still having a couple of sleeps during the day?
I have a similar situation because my 17 month old daughter is fairly difficult to get to sleep at the moment and hates her cot!
What I do is i make sure my LO have her afternoon nap in the early afternoon and if she isn't asleep after I drive her around in the car and she's asleep within 5 minutes too!
If her afternoon snooze has been betwwen 2 - 4pm then she go to sleep again easiliy of the night time.
Answers:    I had a similar problem with my 15 month old after we have been on holiday. I think it completely threw her routine out and it does take them time to adjust. I would make a contribution her a bath and milk feed and the usual time and then she would newly bounce back up again. Anyway, the way we handled it be to just let her burn herself out and by 10.30/11pm she would be completely shattered. We've done this now for a few weeks (we go on holiday in June) and she's now going down for about 9pm beside no problems. I think the key is to not get stressed in the order of it (I know it's easier said than done). Mine also does the standing up and putting arms out if she wasn't ready for bed, so I would pick her up and lie her back down and sympathetically say "night, night, time to move about to sleep" or something along those lines and just keep doing it until she gives contained by. I also stand next to her cot once she's lying down and then slowly back out of the room (trying to avoid the creaky floor boards). I couldn't count the amount of times I get outside the door and I'd hear her cry, so I'd quietly go back contained by and repeat the process. As I say, persistence, patience and routine are the key. Mine also has a nap in the morning, usually about 2 hours after lunch and she sleeps through the night until 7.30/8am. But, all babies are different so what might work for mine may not for yours. Does she enjoy a comforter or something that she can cuddle as a soother instead of needing mommy or daddy? Good Luck.
clutch her for a walk at the park and let her play that will spend all her vitality then when you come home give her a nice lavender bath that will lend a hand her relax and sleep as long as possible hope this will help :)
