How do I generate my 3 year infirm proficient surrounded by English too?
We are from India and our first language is Hindi. I have a kid who has turned 3 this year. She already go to play group but most of the kids there speak in hindi only. How can i initiate my kid english... she understand basic commands contained by English but can't express herself at all. She even loses interest in a story if I tell it to her In English
try speaking in english and hindi around her. give her an apple and influence the word in both languages over time she will pick up both. had a friend who did this next to spanish and english her son could speak both at the age of 4. good luck hope it helps
I think the fastest agency for her to English well is for her to hear it all the time. If you and your husband speak English to her she will pick it up guaranteed. It might be hard at first but if you verbs with it she will do great. She is in the window where on earth she can still pick up language easily, so this is the time to really work at it. My niece learned English prompt by going to a daycare where they only spoke English, so adding a playgroup where on earth mostly English is spoken would help a lot. It also might make her more interested when she see her friends speaking English. I ordered a program for my daughter called (your baby can read) you can use it from very infantile baby's to toddlers. My daughter is also in a bilingual family. I don't know yet because I freshly ordered it but I think it will help her with both English and reading.

Answers: We are from the States, immediately living in Italy. My 3yr old speaks english perfectly powerfully. But is having a hard time with Italian. So I am trying to support her. When we play, or talk i tell her words in english, and Italian. I enjoy started with simple things. And try to make it fun or silly.
Hair= capelli
nose= naso
feet= piedi
turtle= tartaruga
large= grande
small= piccolo
eyes= ochi
mouth= bocca
Simple words for her age. With the new terms a little at a time. We have a picture dictionary with animals and objects she already know in english, And we say both the english/italian words together.
She will be attending her first year of school here surrounded by Italy. While I thought it would be better for her to attend an English speaking class for the first yr. I now think it would be better for her to just move about to Italian speaking class instead. It will be hard at first I am sure. But kids at this age will pick things up faster then adults.
One other thing. We hold met a few friends that have small kids around the same age. ANd they play together. While they really dont know each others words. When they are playing beside dolls, or even crayons, they are picking up the new words. Sometimes kids understand other kids better.
