1st time sending son to daycare?
My son is 22 months old and has never been enrol in a daycare. My parents watched him until he was 9 months hoary, then he went to a private babysitters. Recently there own been things that have happened that aren't cool such as giving him red bull, drawing his finger nails, letting him bite, teaching him to throw gang signs (I live in hick-ville USA for God's sake my towns population might be 1000 people) etc.. Basically they took "treat him close to one of your own a little to seriously. It was her teenage children doing this, so I talk to them. The one was very apologetic, but the other layed on the couch and glared at me. The mom be very defensive and made a very rude remark, doesn`t matter what. My question is what questions should I be asking potential daycares? What things should I be looking for? Any suggestions appreciated.
OMGosh sounds like you and your son hold had a horrible experience!
When you look at different daycares you should pay attention to the cleanliness and overall mood. Also take into commentary how professional everyone is, sometimes that means alot (they may be less likely to distribute your child red bull or paint his finger nails)
Look at the teachers do they seem to enjoy what they do? Are the children verbs and happy? Also ask them about their curriculum. What do they do with the children on a daily basis? Do they stick to a daily schedule and if so how strick is it? Do they work on potty training? How often do the children move up to different classes? What times do they nurture the children and is a snack provided? How long is nap time and what do they do with children who do not sleep? Do they watch TV? If so how long?
Hope this help, good luck! Source(s): Worked in daycare for 5 years
here are a couple of question that I know of 1 how long have you been a daycare provider 2 do you have any younger children contained by your house hold I hope those questions are what you are looking for good luck Source(s): yahoo.com
Answers: I would ask what their routine is, how do they discipline, what to the kids eat, do they move out the building/yard. I would also ask about security, staff training and turnover rate. If the staff seem smiling and professional everything else is finding a right fit for your child - ie size of center, activity level, kids his age. I just took my son for his first daytime today (20 months old) at a daycare and had also tried a private dayhome. While the home setting is nice I really appreciated the hand out that addressed nearly adjectives my questions, the uniformed friendly staff, daily routines, staff training, healthy snacks etc. To find a upright daycare I would ask everyone you know, if your town is small their probably isn't many. Many private dayhomes also run as organized and professional as daycares you just have to look harder for them. Good luck!
I will give this website that have a list of daycare centers by state/city. then you can check them out one by one.
as a guide, a good daycare center teach the child how to develop their physical well being- physical activities, social development and nouns, self esteem and identity.
if you check out daycare centers, pls observe the following:
the place must be clean and inviting, not noisy and dirty. the each day activities should be visible and readily available to the parents.
the place must be spacious and compulsory equipment must be available.
Child to staff ratio
ask if they have an on call health practitioner at appendage.
the staff must be patient and nurturing and the other kids there must be happy.
you can also ask your pedia if she can recommend one.
i hope this help.
