How do I find my 13 month dated to sit surrounded by her saloon form?
Getting my 13 month old to sit in her car form has been a major struggle for a while very soon. She is tall and strong for her age. Every time she sees the car form, her back and legs stiffen. If I do get her seated, she quickly get to her feet, turns around, grabs the back of the form and tries to climb over it. Eventually, after anywhere from 15 to 30 mins, I win the battle, either by persistent peaceable force or bribing with a new toy. However by then, I am usually sweating, worn out and past due for work.
I'm looking for new ideas on how to handle this, especially from other parents next to kids around the same age. I have read many posts online, but the suggestions are usually for elder kids. My daughter does not understand things like: "you're a big girl", negotiating, recitation her where we are going, etc. And I am stern with her, which sometimes get her upset enough that she'll just sit down. Recently though, the stern route have been leading to a meltdown and more struggling. And the new toy or sippy cup entry only works for about a day, so at this rate, I'm going to walk in to debt buying bribe toys and cups.
Any other ideas out there? (BTW, I do not spank my daughter, so please don't bother responding if to be exact your idea.)
Answers: Bring her car seat into the house and agree to her "play with it" Watch tv while sitting in it. She will come to associate the car form with fun times and then when you put it back surrounded by the car she should sit in it with minimal problems.
Yes it is a hassle to hold it out of the car and put it back in but it have worked for me in the past.
You can also keep constant toys in the car. These toys do not leave the sports car. they are there for her to play with while she is in the motor. (I did this with my niece) and she loves it. We also have given her a snack in the vehicle. Although she is 2 1/2 years old now. Source(s): Personal experience.
Spanking is not the only form of discipline. Time-outs work newly fine and aren't any fun for the child. Bribing her won't teach her anything but that you're a pushover. They are Never too young to learn, children are intelligent. Start using discipline contained by the house and it will run over to everything else. But of all things, you're the boss, stop bribing your child.
