Baby stands, bounces contained by bed & chews on the railing. What to do?

You can't stop him from doing it, he's going to do it and probably is important for his development. You can return with plastic sleeves for the rails to prevent him from destroying it - One Step Ahead (online or by catalog) offers some.

Don't try to stop him, just pinch away what might be a danger.
lol - sorry - he's normal and this will continue for quite a while. don't verbs, as he learns proper sleep habits, it'll stop. however, if you're putting him in the crib purely to keep him contained (using the crib as a playpen, i mean), then that's a huge part of the problem: he's get the idea that his crib is a fun place to be, not the place he relaxes and sleeps.
lol I don't think there's anything you can do. He'll stand there and do that until he gets tired. Maybe put together it into a day bed so he can get in and out by himself as long as it have one of those net fence things so he can't fall out while sleeping. We put our boys into bed around that age and never had any problems. I think I would have have more problems of them climbing out of the crib and hurting themselves...
Good luck
My baby brother does the same exact thing--it's manifestly normal.
