My toddler daughter is upset of men, why?

My daughter is three and from the time she was 6 months old she has be scared of men. She loves my dad and step dad but most others she wont have anything to do with.

I enjoy her in swim lessons and both of her teachers are immature men and she will not do anything for them.

What can I do to help me daughter overcome this fear?
Answers:    maybe she have been hurt by a man, and doesn't trust others. or perhaps its just a phase.
