Is it possible that I'm pregnant next to increasingly lighter period?
In May I had unprotected sex a few times while ovulating. I was concerned that I was pregnant, and my length was late by a few days (I'm usually 28 days on the dot), but it came and be pretty normal by my standards (5 days, heavy to light bleeding).
The subsequent month my period came on time but it individual lasted three days before stopping abruptly. I be kind of thrown off by it, but I didn't think too, too much of it.
This month my length was early by four whole days and I individual spotted for two and a half days. I'm never early, and I'm never this light, it almost doesn't get the impression like it counts.
Now, I've taken pregnancy tests but they have come backbone negative and by now I'd be around 11 weeks. I am pretty nauseous, I enjoy horrible indigestion, numb spots in the legs, leg pain... and I'm pretty sure I have a UTI.
So at any rate, I'm going to see the OBGYN within a couple days, mainly to get my yearly pap smear out of the opening, see if I really have a UTI and treat it if so, and to discuss the abnormal periods. I want to request a blood try-out for pregnancy as well since I have heard that some women achieve false negatives with urine tests for months.
The singular reason I bring up the possible pregnancy is that since I have had the unprotected sex my period have been progressively getting lighter and I'm getting all sorts of abnormal symptoms elsewhere I can't really explain otherwise.
Thanks for all your help!
Answers: Hi there,
In no process do I want to frighten you and indeed - your situation may turn out to be completely different from mine - but your story has a lot of similarities to my own and so I felt compelled to reply.
Almost 2 years ago I have a ruptured ectopic pregnancy and had emergency keyhole surgery to remove the tube and stop the internal bleeding.
I had little to no idea of anything to do next to ectopic pregnancies before this happened, so there for didn't put 2 and 2 together next to my strange symptoms in the 2-3 months leading to my fallopian tube rupture.
2 months before the rupture, I have a late period (by around 2 weeks) which was so unusual as I usually had 30 day clockwork periods. The term was also light in volume and strangely orangey or fluorescent surrounded by colour. I had pregnancy symptoms such as sore breasts, heightened sense of smell and tiredness, but did a test both before and after the 'period' both of which showed up as 'negative'.
Next month, 4 weeks after the first 'period', I have another, which was only about 3 days long and again oil lamp and 'orangey' in appearance. The pregnancy symptoms had sloped off a bit, but occasionally rear their heads.
In the following month, I was traveling home in the saloon passenger seat, husband driving. We stopped off at the service station to use the loo, and it was here, whilst going, that the excruciating strain started. Passing urine was very painful and bowel movements exceedingly difficult too (sorry - tmi?!!)
Felt better in the car - must have be the sitting position. Got home, began to feel worse again quickly. Went to bed. Got up to run to loo. Pains - so incredibly unbearable. Called husband in. He helped me subsidise to bed. Could hardly walk. Shoulder blade pains on breathing made any movement / talking intensely difficult. Needed loo again. Husband helped me through. This time I fitted and passed out for a few seconds on passing urine / bowels.
Paramedics be called. Took me to hospital. After a lot of messing about which I won't budge into detail about here (except to say I was initially see by an A&E doc that confirmed and congratulated me on my pregnancy and then practically laughed me out of hospital when I asked whether it could be ectopic - I was discharged consequently returned a few hours later with continued pains before person correctly diagnosed by other medics) I was finally seen by a gynae specialist who suspected ruptured ectopic straight away. Was then scan (no baby in uterus) and taken into surgery soon afterwards. Felt so much better afterwards - surgeons and aftercare nurses were a moment ago wonderful. Was told I'd been internally bleeding for so long I was lucky to be alive. Husband and I were shocked and gutted more or less the loss of baby; the whole event has be very significant and life-changing. But I am very pleased to report that, 2 years later, we are immediately about 1 week away from welcoming our first baby to the world - something that we touch utterly blessed about - feels like a miracle!
Anyway, I could progress on for hours - such is the magnitutde of this whole experience - so will force myself to stop here.
To end with, I'd resembling to offer some advice I wish I'd have going into my experience.
See and seek medical advice ASAP - demand to be see, don't hesitate.
If you are not happy with the first view, demand for a second. Your gut feelings are important. The first A&E doc I saw (seemed approaching they may have ben newly qualified) put my life at risk by discharging me fairly than taking my admittedly naive but ultimately correct instincts seriously.
Pregnancy tests coming up as negative don't miserable you are not pregnant. Things like ectopic pregnancies mean your hormone levels rise much more slowly, so test may read negative when you are in fact positive next to a potentially unviable pregnancy. This happened to me for 2 months - I never saw a doctor about my strange pregnancy symptoms in my naivety. I really need I had.
Good luck with everything - I wish you the immensely best. Seek all the medical help you can ASAP to rule out everything you can. Take care.
Okay the entry is a woman can think she is pregnant and actually make her body start "accepting" a pregnancy that doesn't exist. Calm down and write down an question and ask your doctor.
