1st Ultrasound--Did my doc do it right?
I went in the morning for my 1st prenatal exam w/my OB. Mind you, I haven't seen her since another doc contained by the practice took over my file...so I was already feeling similar to I probably had to repeat myself.
My husband was standing in the room & I be sort of hoping someone would offer to bring in a seat for him since this be a special moment for both of us. He was asked to move "aside" so the doc could give me a pelvic exam.
A vaginal ultrasound was done to see the kid which looked perfect. We could see his little heart fluttering. I was waiting for the doc to turn on the sound but a moment ago as I was going to ask, she pulled out the ultrasound wand and said all looked well. Puzzled by this, I asked if the fetal heart rate be normal since we didn't get to hear it. She sort of shrugged it off and said "yes, everything is fine."
Did you achieve to hear the heart beat at your 1st ultrasound? Were you sort of rushed out of the office? Can the doc tell the Heart Rate by a fast glance at the screen?
I am seeing a new OB subsequent Monday because I have never gotten a good vibe from my current doc's office. Am I only just overreacting?
You need to be comfertable with your dr. if you don't like this one afterwards buy all means find a new dr. they can bring up to date the heart rate buy just watching it but yes they usually do turn it on so you can hear it.My husband wasn't offered a seat at our ultra sound any but other then that they were very nice to us.
I do not like the sound of that doctor... I get to hear my babys heartbeat at 7 weeks via the vaginal and then at 12 and then at 18 and my last one be 33 weeks. It sounds like she was in a hurry and not taking into consideration how substantial that was to you . I say find a new doctor that one does not seem to be to pleasant.
If you don't like your doctor, it is a good idea to switch to one you will similar to. I had my first Ultrasound at 8 weeks because I had a miscarriage previously and I couldn't bare to linger until 12 weeks. I do like my doctor, he is really nice and gentle. He did not have to do the vaginal US though, he be able to do the tummy US. We did not get to hear the heartbeat at that one either. But he did allow both of us to see the little heart flickering on the eyeshade. I think they can tell, because the screen does show the amount of beat per minute, etc. At my 12 1/2 week appt. I got to finally hear the heartbeat with a doppler. I can't wait to see the little babe on the blind again in a week and a half. I think your tot seems to be fine if you saw the heartbeat and they weren't concerned. Good luck and I hope you like your new doc.
no you aren't over react! I had a ob like that a couple years ago and she would make me cry everytime i go in the office. I was miscarrying and she straight up told me to suck it up, it happen to a lot of people! I think nearby comes a point when they maybe just become cold because they are so used to dealing with things. By adjectives means you need a new doc!
i got to hear the heartbeat at the first ultrasound and no if you dont like your doc swich
how far along are you? with my son i heard the heartbeat the first time and i be only 6 weeks and they had a Special Room that we went surrounded by with a couch dem lights and everything you want to know a;ll these thing so i would change obs swift
when we have are first scan we did not hear the babies heartbeat all she did was point and say you can see the heart battering away. usually you cant hear the heartbeat till further on as baby is so small so that could be why she didnt listen but from what my mum said the midwife listens to the heartbeat and when i went for my concluding appointment she said she wasnt going to listen to my babies heartbeat till i am 25 weeks so that will be at my next appointment.
the fact that you saw the babies heart beating proves that everything should be fine Source(s): 20 weeks EDD 12.12
your not over reacting at all! we get to hear my babys heart beat at my first ultrasound, you definitely need a different OB dutiful luck with this one on monday hope all goes powerfully and congratulations
Generally the ultrasound will pick up the number of beats per minute. If not, after yes it is easy to tell what the heart rate is by simply looking at it and counting for a few seconds (sort of duplicate way the nurse can tell what your heart rate is simply by putting a finger on your pulse or listening next to the stethoscope, except instead of going by feel or sound they are going by what they see visually).
I don't think you are overreacting though. It sounds similar to this doctor's bedside manner could use a little work and if you don't feel comfortable next to how she handled this appointment then you certainly should follow your gut and try to go and get in with someone who is going to take the time to spawn you feel comfortable at every exam. Pregnancy is a special, and emotional, time for expectant parents and any good doctor is going to lift the time to make sure that you and your husband are both comfortable with the procedures (and getting to hear the heartbeat is a bonus that very remarkably few parents would pass on given the opportunity, so I do think it was form of rude for them to just end the ultrasound without letting you hear the heartbeat or at smallest asking if you wanted to).
The same thing happend to me! I switched and found my unflawed ob.
i didn't capture to hear the heartbeat at my first scan - i only got it at my 16 week appointment where my midwife used a doppler - i would voice you got a pretty standard appointment - though the least she could have done is brought surrounded by a chair for your partner.
I'm not entirely sure how far along you are, but most of the time the heartbeat cannot be hear before 10 weeks, so that might be why you didn't get to hear it. I've never heard my daughters' heartbeats on ultrasound any. And the computer that they use with the ultrasounds actually measures the heart rate, so yes they can tell the heart rate amazingly quickly.
I'm sorry that you had a bad experience, but it's best to in recent times move past it and hopefully you will like your new doctor better.
Well, my first ultrasound I thought I was 5 to 6 weeks but turned out to be 12 weeks along in my pregnancy. They did not use the ultrasound wand on me but I did get to hear our babies heart vanquish. The second ultrasound we had of our baby, we didn't get to listen to the heart hammer. But our doctor pointed the heart beat out to my Husband and I, the baby was moving so much we couldn't relay though. I would shop around if you don't like your doctor. It's not worth having a bad relationship near your doctor during this time in your life. You need some one you can trust and quality comfortable and confident around. Source(s): 16 weeks pregnant with our 1st child.
don't be surprise but it happen some docs dont go to the extreme we want them to im actually 23 weeks i had never hear my baby heart until i went to the er at 18 weeks(first time hearing it) and i haven't hear it since then actually just come a docs appt where he put the fetal doppler on my stomach i didnt hear anything but he said it was moving im like ok but anyway thats my experience and im contained by the process of gettin another doctor also so good luck which ur search
Sounds just like my experience with my dr but by the itime i looked-for to change drs i was to far along so honestly I would look into a midwife thats is how i am going to go subsequent time-kristy p.s. good luck hun AND congrats
I had a doctor like that for the first 2 prenatal visit of my first pregnancy. If she had any concerns, I'm sure she would have expressed them to you, so everything is fine I'm sure... BUT the fact of the event is, this is a very precious and sensitive time in you and your husbands lives and you need to surface 100% comfortable with your caregivers. You need to feel rewarded with all of the information they give you, and you necessitate to be confident that everything you want to know is answered to your standards. Don't be afraid to be a little pushy... Whichever doctor you end up sticking with, you should other feel totally comfortable, relaxed and satisfied...I mean, it's not resembling they're working for minimum wage ;)
Answers: It sounds like you just have a doctor beside bad people skills.
No I didn't hear the heartbeat, btu I got a copy of the ultrasound. Yeah the monitor shows the heart rate.
I don't blame you. I unloved my doctor through out my whole pregnancy and I wanted to change so unpromising, but I just didn't feel like it. So when I be in labor I hated her even more. She refused to show up and I be dilated 10 for about 3 hours before she came to back. I was so annoyed. But I got over it. But now if someone say they don't like their OBGYN; I always say find a modern one now!
Good Luck and Congrats.
Keep in mind, I never had a vaginal u/s, but I of late had a regular one on Friday, and I never heard the heart beat. I've hear it before, just not at this appointment.
That being said, the mechanism can track it without you actually hearing, and they read what the mechanism says. My ultrasound tech said the baby's heart rate was 150 bmp, but I never heard anything except her unfolding me what she was seeing. I wouldn't worry about it at adjectives.
