16 week appt this Friday and..?

I have had 2 appts so far. The first was at 8 weeks and be just with a nurse. The second was at 12 weeks and the Dr. give me a Pap and external exam. He did not listen for the heartbeat or tell me when he may. My next appt is Friday and I will be 16, almost 17, weeks pregnant. If nothing is said roughly speaking finding the heartbeat, can I request it be done? I'm very anxious to hear it and know that everything is okay. He already told me that he would do an u/s at the appt after this one. I'm excited for that one as well!!
Seems like you should have had a sonogram and an ultrasound by presently! I had both by 16 weeks for each of my kids. I would request the sonogram at your next appt. It one and only takes about a minute to do and the device they use is hand held.. shouldn't be a problem at adjectives!
He should be checking for a heartbeat at this point. If he does not, then request for him to check for it. Also, I would request an ultrasound as very well. There is a chance that you will be able to know the sex if you want, but it could still be early. However, getting an ultrasound done at this stage is major, most doctors do one at 13 weeks to make sure everything is developing normally.

If you are not happy beside the way your doctor is dealing with your pregnancy, then you can variation doctors, it is not too late and it might make you feel better.

Good Luck
yea the heart beat should be found by now. ask him if u can hear it. it cant hurt 2 ask that right? Congratulations Good Luck :)

Of course you can ask! Everyone wants to hear the babies heartbeat!!
I didn't hear my babies for the first time until a few weeks ago at 17 weeks, and I couldn't wait! The nurse didn't mention it for the first few minutes so I finally couldn't take it anymore and asked her if we'd be doing that.
Don't be afraid to ask your doc anything! You should be completely comfortable next to him/her!!
I'd shift ahead and ask to have it done if he doesn't go ahead and do it himself. Most babies have their heartbeat heart by the 10th week of pregnancy. I've have a stubborn little baby from the beginning so I had to hold an ultrasound done a couple times to make sure he was ok and to record the heartbeat that channel. It should be a common practice in any clinic to check the heartbeat and every appointment. Source(s): mom of three w/ baby four due any daylight!
hmmm. he should have been looking for a heartbeat from 9 weeks on. i would call him on that and if you're not in good spirits find a new doc. you absolutely should tell them to check for the heartbeat - it will not with the sole purpose make you feel better but make you oh so relaxed to hear!
hello and congrats your doc should check for the heartbeat at this subsequent appt. your last one might have been to rash to hear it good luck and enjoy! Source(s): 8 month old daughter and 21 wks w 2nd!
They'll check the heartbeat. if they don't then yeah, ask them what give... they should have checked it at 12 weeks but I have heard of some not doing it later... But at 16 weeks they will definitely check it so I dont' think yo9u should worry.
Answers:    I would defiantly ask. I can't believe they didn't do that for you at 12 weeks. I have an appointment last week (11 weeks for me) and I got to hear the heartbeat. They should know it is something we need to hear to keep hold of us from going insane :-) But I would defiantly mention something at the beginning of the next appointment. Like "We capture to hear the heartbeat today, right?" not in a defensive tone, but an anxious one. Good luck! Source(s): I am 12 weeks
you should ask...it cannot hurt..in fact, i would be complaining that they didn't. Also, now is something like the time that you can learn about the sex, ask about an ultrasound too.
i would defintily enunciate something. my doctor does it every time i see him.
hearbeats can be hear by week 10. Ur Dr shoulda listened to it by now. If he doesn't the next appointment, I would request he does so.
he will most promising listen to the heart beat at this appt. I am surprised that they didn't check the heart beat at your last appt. But the heart tempo check is something that will be done at every appt. from this point on.
At my 12 weeks appointment my doctor wasn't going to listen for the heartbeat either. I was pretty much like Ummm Hello!? (but within a nice way). I spoke up because this is my 2nd pregnancy and I know I could probably hear it by now. I don't know why she was planning on not doing that. Kinda of annoying. At your next appointment they will probably do an ultrasound and listen for the heart. My subsequent appointment I was 16 weeks prego and I had an u/s and saw my baby and they did adjectives the measurments to make sure the baby is normal and I found out I'm have a boy! :-) If they don't give you an u/s then, ask when yours will be. If they STILL don't at least try to listen to the heart... seize a new doctor. Best wishes and congrats!
