How do doctors determine a due date for a newborn?

Add 7 days to get to January 8. Then count back 3 months. Your due date is October 8. This technique is base on a 28-day cycle, with conception occurring 2 weeks afterward, which does not apply to all women. Having an ultrasound exam, if needed, on the first or second trimester can help to confirm your due date. They count from the first light of day of your last period to 40 weeks. That is why it is called an estimated due date. Your date can translation as they see how the baby is progressing. I ended up having 3 different due date with my daughter and 2 with my son.
