18 week ultrasound w/ twins? can you find out?
i know a girl that is pregnant with twins, she is paying to have an U/S this friday. she is positive that she will be capable of tell what she is having.. i just dont suppose that is true. can she find out?
If the babies cooperate, she can find out as early as 18w if not sooner than that.

Yeah... anywhere from 18 weeks and on you can pretty much tell what you are having through ultrasound. Honestly anything from 16 weeks and up you can... it is just harder to report and more unaccurate guesses are given when it is before 18 weeks. Also it wouldn't surprise me if she can only find out the sex of one of them... or neither. They could be in unusual positions to where they can't tell.
Answers: Provided both babies have their parts in a detectable position then there should be no problem.
My friends SIL is expecting twins and I think they found out at 19 weeks they are both girls (fraternal).
Another friend a short time ago had her twin boys (again, fraternal) last week, and she found out they were both boys at 21 weeks.
Having twins, she will probably enjoy extra scans anyway, so if they cant tell her for sure this time, she probably wont have to loaf too long.
I found out what I was having at 17 weeks and 5 days. So if they are contained by the right position, she probably will. Mine wasn't but during it he kept moving so we caught a glimpse a few times.

As long as the babies are in positions that the doctor can put in the picture, yes she can find out. I am having my ultrasound in order to find out the femininity of my baby at 18 weeks. Having two doesn't change the development of the babies so their genitals will already be formed plenty to tell.
i wouldn't see why it would be any different with twins later for one. i think yes
