What would you presume would be the right choice within this circumstance?

Trolls will be ignored, this is a serious question and there's nothing funny just about it or making a joke of it.

What (god forbid) would happen if a severely mentally retarded woman was raped and get pregnant? Would a care taker be allowed to make the decision for her to fetch on with the pregnancy or to terminate it? Or does she still have the right to desire for herself? I'm not being sick here, but my friend works with mentally disabled people (a state funded program) and some of the culture come from really sad and abusive homes.. It just get me thinking.

What do you think would happen in a situation resembling this?
If the woman was in nouns mind and able to take care of herself afterwards the decision would lie with her.

If she forgot things I believe they would call off for her sanity.

If she was able to budge through the pregnancy I believe they would then have the child put for adoption.

Not 100% certain though.
One point I am very sure of is that in any case, the kid would want to live; so, by all means, let the babe-in-arms live! Even a baby born in a far from ideal situation have great potential, so many people want to adopt, so it would be a grave mistake to destroy his or her existence. If the mother is unable to make a choice, I think any compassionate condition care worker would choose to let the baby live.
if the mentally disabled person be able to make a decision for herself - next i think it should be left down to her - if she is classed as healthy plenty to make that decision for herself - hope that doesn't confuse you.

Otherwise it would probably hold to be left to her caregiver or parent/guardian to make the decision for her.
Really does get you thinking. I'm baffled. I'm going to star this and skulk to see the answers.

My opinion, if you're talking about someone who is so severely disabled that they can't even sermon, walk or feed/take care of themselves the pregnancy should be terminated but I have no conception who has the power to do that. Really interesting question..
Answers:    Honestly, I think if the person is not capable of kind for herself it would be up to the state. Most mentally disabled people have physical disabilities as well, and carrying a toddler might be high risk for her and the baby.

That's a tough question and I hope that situation never happen!
I work with dsabled adults and always wondered the same piece.

We actually had a male client who WANTED to hold a baby with his girlfriend, he was exceptionally serious about it. It's a tough sitation being that he, of course, have all the rights, but the fact that he was not mentally "normal" and lived surrounded by a care home himself, made it difficult because, who is going to pay for the babies care?
If a personality does not have the capability of making decisions for them selves later in most cases they have an appointd power of attorney and that person who have been chosen will make the decisions for them base on their medical history etc, if the person is in care later they would ultimately be responsible for making the choices for the patient
I see an episode of this exact same thing on LAW & ORDER: SVU and the caretaker, the mentally retarded girls mom, decided for her to terminate the toddler. But then she and her mentally retarded bf got married and then proved that they be able to care for a baby. They be forced to go through a series of child-care classes to prove it, however. So I'm guessing that if they could be proven that the child would be cared for properly then they could hang on to it and would still have all the rights of normal parents..it is appalling to think about tho. No one can ever force anybody to do something so calamitous to themselves or their children.

How can someone assume that the woman would WANT to abort her baby? Many women do not abort their children conceived through rape, and why should they? The children are innocent and deserve to be welcomed, not rejected. They are victims, too, after all.

No child deserves to die because of his or her father's crime. End of discussion. No child should suffer resembling this, and imposing an abortion on a mentally-disabled woman would be FAR worse than the rape itself. It would be the rape of all that she is.

The baby lives and give the mother something good from a terrible situation. If the baby doesn't die, in that is no problem.
