How is induced labor diff from organic labor?

it was descovered that at 36 wks im diabetic, my doc wants to induce me in two weeks if it doesnt rearrange. my questions is- does induced labor (through the use of pictocin) hurt more than naturally occuring labor. what was your experiance beside induced labor? where contractions more painful? did labor take smaller amount time when induced? im scared. i had planned on a natural deliviery next to out pain meds, but if it is unbearable (which i have heard) than i guess i enjoy to get epidural.
I had both induced and a natural labor! With my oldest she be induced do to being two weeks late and my son a year in a partially later came on his own! I didn't notice a difference within pain except for that my pain meds wore off next to my sons birth. The only major difference I experience was my induced labor last much longer! Inducing can ether go fast or slow and it all depends on your body and if kid is ready to come! My induced labor was 30 hours and my natural labor be 12 hours! I think the time difference is my body and baby decided when the time be right with my son! Other than the time difference not much was different! As for you just know if your have problems with sugar levels that the doctor is doing what is best for you and baby! Hope that help and good luck! Source(s): Mom of 3 and one on way
Talk with your doctor about making sure your cervix is "ripe" before they get going pitocin. Unless your cervix is ready to dilate, all the pit in the world won't work. Ask give or take a few getting prostin the night before your induction if your cervix is still pretty firm and closed. In early labor (after the pit is started) hike those halls! Sit on a birthing ball to relax your pelvic floor muscles. Stay off the birthing bed as much as possible. While it might be a moment or two difficult to find one this late in your pregnancy, get a doula. They are awesome!! Best wishes!

Before anyone suggests that you should not take an induction at 38 weeks, let me assure everyone that with a diabetic, the placental functions start to decline sooner than with a non-diabetic and usually by 38 weeks, the placenta of a diabetic mom is similar to that of a 41 week non-diabetic. Those who are regulars on here know I'm a big proponent of instinctive birth, midwives, waterbirths, and doulas, but diabetes is one case that needs a high stratum of care and monitoring during pregnancy, labor, and birth.
You will still have a "natural" delivery, you just won't stir into labor so spontaneously.you'll have a bit of a heads-up because you will be induced to help Mother Nature along. It shouldn't hurt any different.

When pitocin is used DURING labor, it causes contractions to be longer and stronger, so yes, it will hurt more. But if it's only being used a little bit to receive you going you will be fine.
It hurts after about 5-6 hours. Really fruitless! I was induced around 7am and I didn't feel anything until about the middle of the day. You dont have to go straight for the epidural. They gave me a couple shots of demeral, and consequently I finally had to have a spinal for a c-section. I've never experienced natural labor so I cannot recount you the difference between the two. I remember its pretty painful, try to go pain med free but hang on to the option open just contained by case, there is no reason to be miserable if you don't own to.
Answers:    Well, inducing won't make contractions any more or less tight. It just starts labor instead of naturally waiting for it to happen. I go into labor naturally with all three of my children and still have to use pitosin because the needed to get things to move along.

I have gestational diabetes too with this child and I think inducing early is much better for you. Chances are if you carry to full permanent status and your baby gets too big, the risks to your child increase significantly and you could end up within an emergency c-section.
