Anyone else have low-lying placenta?
I am 24 weeks and at my ultrasound this week they have found I have grade I placenta previa. At the moment the placenta is lying 1cm away from the cervix. I am hoping it will move up into the large zone before my babies come.
Just wondering if anyone else had it and what happened? Did it correct? Did you hold any complications? Did you have to have a c-section?
Thanks!
My friend did a couple of years ago. They kept a close eye on it and she had extra scans nearer her due date. Luckily it adjectives worked out okay, at the end it wasn't close enough to the cervix to cause a problem and she have a normal birth.
at my 20wk ultrasound my placenta was bordering the cervix right at the fringe. then i had a followup ultrasound at 28wks and it had moved up to 4cm away from the cervix. the dr. told me they be pleased with that, and that it will probably continue to be pulled up as the uterus stretches. they said it only requirements to be 2cm away before they plan a csection.
during the time between ultrasounds, i just took extra precautions like no unwieldy lifting and no sex (easier said than done, so sometimes it was just light sex) to prevent any compliactions. anyways, everything is fine presently :) Source(s): 33wks with #1
Answers: I had a 'Partial Previa' at my 17 week scan so they put me on pelvic rest until 30 weeks and did another scan. That's when they found the placenta have moved in the WRONG direction, so now I've got full previa :(
Luckily, nearby has been no bleeding. That's really the only article you'd need to worry about, and for 30% of previa cases, nearby isn't any bleeding until dilation begins way at the end of pregnancy. If you seize bleeding, be sure to call your doctor's office. If it's spotting, leave a message. If it's calorific bleeding, tell them you've got suspected previa and you'll be happy to hold the procession (don't let them fob you off!) That's what my midwife told me to do!
I'm having a c-section contained by mid-september, unless there's bleeding in which case they said they'll give me the lung-development steroid and lash him out of there at 36 weeks. I asked my doctor about the c-section, and she said they can normally do a regular cesarian (bikini) incision with epidural, so I can be awake at the birth. Yay!
But remember, only a few women get the low-placenta diagnosis at around 20 weeks, and of them, simply 1 in 40 will end up needing a c-section. There is a totally high chance that you'll be in that 39 out of 40 that go on to have a totally normal pregnancy and birth.
i'm 35 weeks today and at my concluding appointment and 33 weeks m doc said that mine was kinda low , but to soon to tell if it will stay there or not , i'm praying that it moves up in the past baby is ready , i'm hoping that i don't have to hold a c-section ...i'm praying i don't have to.
it depends on how the placenta moves as the uterus grows - it may well move up to a better position.
if not - your dr will monitor closely
a work colleague have a c/section a month ago for this - she had a large haemorrhage and needed a blood transfusion and was surrounded by hospital for a month before baby was born
Yes I had one. It presented itself at 23 weeks. I am now 30 weeks and it have corrected itself. They will send you for a ultrasound ina few weeks to see if it has moved up.
