Nurses, condition keeping workers, doctors? Is it a myth that more women turn into labor on full moons?

Is it a myth that more women go into labor on full moons?
Nope, it's not a myth! We've sent too many patients to L&D during the full moon phase (3 days before, during the full moon, and 2 days after!) for me to say otherwise. Source(s): Ob/Gyn Nurse

Haha! I guess you checked the lunar calendar too? Tonight is a full moon!!

I havent be in the health field for in the region of 5 years now, but crazy things happened on full moons. I worked on the psych ward of a hospital and... well you can merely imagine my fun on full moons! L&D was next to psych and they would be swarming full on full moons. I have always heard that it have something to do with gravitational pull that a full moon causes... if nearby is any REAL scientific reason for strange things happening on full moon... that is to say a different story. But I have seen it happen or what SEEMED close to something caused by the effects of a full moon anyways.

Good luck ;) I see you are 39 weeks, hope tonight is your night!
Answers:    I am an RN at a hospital and statistics show more babies born around a full moon. Weird, isn't it! Actually the whole hospital gets busy around full moons. Source(s): RN, and 36 wks+5days pregnant
I googled it and apparently studies show there is no link between the full moon and workforce. Interesting theory though and there's certainly enough anecdotal evidence to support it. I muse I might ask my midwife about her experiences of it at my next appointment.
Im not sure about the pregnancy piece Im curious about that but I do know that when i worked nights in a dementia section. I dreaded full moon nights because thats when majority of the residents would be up all night and enormously very confused. Seems their dementia was affected by the full moons. So I wouldnt doubt it next to the pregnancy thing
ive never heard of the full moon assumption, but its a fact that more women go into labor when a low pressure system moves through the area, as unwilling a high pressure system. i went into labor during a low pressure system, and the hospital didnt have a room for me, it be packed!
Statistics show that more women go into labor and nativity on a full moon, I was even one of them! But I was also sent home. I thought my water be leaking, but it wasn't. I didn't ever go into labor on my own so I was induced 2 weeks then, 2 weeks after the full moon Source(s): Mommy to 2 week old baby Colin
My aunt is a nurse contained by the prenatal unit and she says that every full moon there is a spike surrounded by the number of women going into labor. Wonder if there's any stats though...
umm my friend told me that she went into labor a week early and here were less pts and nurse was close to u r lucky coz on full moons we have like 30 or more pts
It's if truth be told not a myth. The hospitals are swamped on full moons. It has to do with the earths gravitational verbs when there is a full moon.
I thought it was a joke too until I give birth on the full moon, which my friend who follows astrology had predicted and therefore won my baby pool to guess the due date. I'm hoping it's right this time so that I'm impulsive and not late like last time.
well I'm not an iota of those things but I'm curious the answer as well. My family and my husbands swears this to be true!!
