Is tuna okay to devour while pregnant?
I like to have it a couple times a week with my breakfast, is that too much? I know I can't own sushi clams, but which seafood can I have and how much? I'm only 5 weeks pregnant. Thank you =)
tina fresh and tinned i have been told is ok to guzzle in pregnancy but only 1-2 time a week because of the mercury levels surrounded by it. you can still eat samon, haddock, all that kind of fishs and you can still enjoy prawns as long as they are well cooked. but sushi is a no no. good luck with your pregnancy. you can usually find a huge list of things o eat/not to eat on the internet or just ask your doctor/midwife
Yes, tuna is fine. Most sources recommend limiting it to 1-2 can a week due to the mercury content. (And stick to the chunk-lite kind -- solid albacore has more mercury.)
As for seafood in nonspecific -- again, you'll want to limit/avoid high mercury fish (you can google for lists -- only a few types of fish are really glorious in mercury). Other than that, any fish or seafood, as long as it's cooked, in whatever quantity you enjoy, is fine.
Tuna is not ok to have, they voice not to eat bigger fish that consume smaller ones, because they contain more mercury. But once of twice a week won't hurt. Salmon you are allowed to have and there are a few others
i was told that i can own canned tuna about once a week and that salmon and tuna (not raw) are ok once a week as well, and that salmon is in actual fact good bc of the omega3. i eat sushi every now and after and its ok bc there are some sushi rolls that are cooked, like shrimp, shrimp HAS to b cooked.
Yes you can drink tuna. its not raw, so yes.
yes tuna is sheltered, although you should limit it to 1-2 tins a week! prawns are safe (cooked) most shelfish is safe as long as it is cooked!
Answers: My doctor's office told me to stay away from albacore tuna but regular can tuna in water is all right to enjoy once or twice a week. Due to mercury levels in fish, many things become bad limits when pregnant. You have to stay away from Mahi Mahi, yellow fin tuna, mackeral, most sushi (unless cooked) and shark. I know in that are more. You can have basic white fish but not orange roughy. To be honest, I've stayed away from fish this pregnancy except for an occasional tuna fish sandwich.
