Have you ever be told your infant be hulking on u/s and they be completely wrong?
I got a fetal growth measurement done at 34 weeks (due to diabetes) and they said he was 7lbs 5oz purely by measuring and I still have 4 weeks to go! Now, I know they can be stale up to a pound either direction and he's going to be measured again at 36 weeks (next Tuesday) to see how much more he's grown. But, I was wondering (as all this information panicky me a little) that they are completely wrong about his size. Has this ever happened to you?
at 35ish weeks i was told that emilee be about 6 and half pounds which i would say be pretty accurate since 3-4 weeks later she was born 7lbs 13oz. the ultrasound tech said that she would be high 7s low 8s at birth and he be right.
I was told at around 34 weeks with my first that she was measure 6lb and so many ounces. I was terrified of have a large baby, and they told me to expect her to be 9 pounds or more by her due date. She was born right on her due date and she weigh 7lb 4oz. I also know a girl who had a c-section because they suspected macrosomia (a large baby) based on measurements on an ultrasound. They told her that her babe was going to be 10 pounds, and after her c-section her baby was born at 6 pounds! They can be past its sell-by date by a very large number.
Answers: Not me personally, but I know tons who have been told a very dignified or low weight, only to discover the opposite be true. One lady I know was told her baby have to be delivered at 37 weeks because she was "so small" and they worried about IUGR.after her surgery her toddler weighed in at almost 7 lbs!! At 37 weeks! Give me a break, huh?? I know many more women who be warned about how huge their babies would be, which led them to agree to inductions back 40 weeks, and none of them had babies over 8 lbs. NONE. It's ridiculous.
So while Cameron may be a big healthy boy, he could also be on the average side of things. You won't know for sure until he gets here. ;) And since your sugars hold been well-controlled, I personally wouldn't worry in the order of TRUE macrosomia.
