Can I play softball if I am 6 weeks prego?
I am in 2 softball leagues and I was a short time ago wondering if I play outfield can I still play, and if so how long can I play
Personally, I'd avoid any and all contact sports. Doesn't come across worth the possible risks.
I agree that it is a good idea to avoid contact sports. What if you fall over? What if the bubble hits you? What if you are sliding into base and someone collides with you?
Answers: Hi there, Of course it's entirely up to you but here is my experience. I play softball and have for 11 years, I have played throughout adjectives 3 of my pregnancies with my doctors permission, he said if I was doing it past i fell pregnant then there's no reason to stop, he even had to write a memo to my clubs president saying that playing will post no more danger to my child than normal exercise would. My softball runs from sept to march past and my first child was born in april 06, and my second in dec 07, and fell pregnant during the season purely gone so i have played at all different stages of pregnancy and never experienced any difficulties. Running does become abit harder once you start showing heaps but it's easy to adjust too. Of course sliding is not a smart belief but other than that you don't need to limit what you do, I play 3rd remains and did throughout all 3 pregnancies. Alot of people will say ''what if u receive hit in the belly with the ball?'' and seriously contained by 11 years I've never been hit with the ball surrounded by the gut. Shins, Face, Head, yeah but never the tummy.
I copped alot of flack from other teams refusing to play against me etc etc but I don't think relations understand firstly how addictive softball is (believe me i know how you feel!) and secondly that exercise is important during pregnancy and i be there at my own discretion with my doctors support.
P.S - Any injury relating to playing whilst being pregnant won't be covered by your clubs insurance as they aren't liable for any injury to the little one.
