Why am I person tested for GD so hasty?

Hey all, when I went for my prenantal check up this past Thursday, my OB said that I will be tested for GD at 12 weeks because I am overweight and my mom have Type 2 diabetes. If this is something that normally doesn't develop until later on, why am I being tested NOW? If it comes up gloomy now, does that mean I will not develop it later on contained by my pregnancy??
An increase in solidity is a very likely result of GD. My first pregnancy i was dignosed next to GD because i had a great increase in weight and i because soaring risk due to the fact i had poly-hydramnious(over exsessive amount in amniotic fluid)which cause you to gain weight fast.. as it is all the sugar you are intaking, which is passed to your infant! As a result they pee alot and your left carrying the extra weight of all the fluid, but diabtetes be also very common in my relations, after i had my daughter i was then tested for diabtetes again and in a minute i am type 1.So it could be likely that since its in your families history that you are at risk for developing it after that on...i hope ive been of some help and good luck
Most healthcare practitioners routinely recommend a glucose screening test (also called a glucose challenge question paper or GCT) between 24 and 28 weeks of pregnancy to check for gestational diabetes, a high blood sugar condition that some women get during pregnancy.

Your practitioner may want you to be screened early than 24 weeks if a routine urine test shows a high amount of sugar in the urine or if you're considered at large risk. If the results are normal, you'll be screened again at 24 to 28 weeks.

Of course, if were already diagnosed near diabetes before pregnancy, you won't need to be screened. Instead, you'll verbs to work with your practitioner to manage your condition during your pregnancy.

If one of the readings is peculiar, you may have to take another test then in your pregnancy. Or your practitioner may ask you to make some changes within your diet and exercise routine. If two or more of your readings are abnormal, you'll be diagnosed with gestational diabetes and you'll requirement to talk to your practitioner about a treatment plan. This chart shows the levels that the American Diabetes Association considers impressive at each interval of the test:

Interval Abnormal reading
Fasting 95 mg/dl or higher
One hour 180 mg/dl or complex
Two hours 155 mg/dl or higher
Three hours 140 mg/dl or higher
yea they are just trying to make sure that you'll be okay because it's so adjectives in your family! Source(s): im preggo
They are doing it because you are more possible to get it due to your mom having it and your weight. They will probably check you again latter too. Just to make sure everything is okay.
Answers:    If you're genetically predisposed to GD they will always test you early, so don't discern picked on. It's routine.
