How would you respond to this give somebody the third degree concerning toddlers and pregnancy?
I'm pregnant and I have an 18 month old and people hold asking me what he thinks about me having another babe-in-arms. All these people know how old he is because they asked me that first. At first I thought it was lately some idiot that knows nothing about kids but consequently a med assistant at the pediatrician's office asked me this and she is around a lot of kids I would think. My husband think I should start saying stuff like, he wants no slice of it or he told me to get an abortion, but that's a little too mean even for me. So far I've in recent times looked at them funny and said, he's 18 months old, I doubt he understands the concept of pregnancy and they say "oh." What are they thinking asking that? Do inhabitants really an 18 month old would conversations about that sort of thing?
My 2 yr old was completely oblivious to my pregnancy the integral way through! We tried to prepare him by showing him pics of babies and calling her name, and telling him that she be 'in Mummy's tummy' but he never got it. People have to realise that I spent almost partly of his little life pregnant with is baby sister, and kids that infantile forget quickly, so what seems to be a rapidly expanding belly for you is something intangibly slow for a toddler. Of course, you and your husband understand that, as do any parent with a toddler and newborn/soon to be newborn, but I think sometimes other those expect too much of a toddler and forget that they have limitations that we take for granted.
I used to smile and just read aloud 'Oh, he doesn't realise yet, but wait till we bring her home...!' You always find a grin out of that one!
Well my daughter is 21 months, and she now thinks everyone have a baby in their tummy. She lifts her t shirt up and say 'shh baby'.
I think sometimes they grasp the idea and sometimes they don't, she kisses my belly goodnight when she goes to bed, and i hold shown her pictures of babies and said that mummys having one, but whether she's excited or not i don't know.
Answers: my daugther is 25 months older and we have told her that we are having another baby she know what the baby stuff is (the swing, bouncer,...) and she rubs my belly but she has never really said any thing something like having another baby i dont even think she really understand what is goin on i dont know why people would think i 18 months old would infer. when i told my daugther she went to her room and got a baby "heres the kid momma" lol. i wouldnt think that most race would think an 18 month old would talk in the region of that sort of thing! my 20 month old couldnt care smaller quantity he is getting a brother or sister lol. Source(s): 20 month old son and 1 month pregnant
Well according to my Mum, when i was that age, and she was pregnant next to my sister i told her i didn't want her and to send her back lol.
I suppose if you asked him if he wanted somewhat brother or sister he'd tell you out right what he thought :] Source(s): 22 weeks 2 days with a Girl!
