Question roughly backache meds and pregnancy...?
So, I'm 35 weeks & 1 day pregnant and was hospitalized on July 24th because I had such impossible pain in my right side and my back, I be having hot flashes and throwing up. After finding a very large amount of blood surrounded by my urine and an ultrasound, my doc diagnosed me with having kidney stones. From what they could see, I had 3. They give me a shot of demerol in my hip, started started me on percocet every 3 hours, and kept me overnight. Well, 5 days later the pain started up again. I couldn't even maintain my own spit down (sorry. I know that's gross). They re admitted me and started me on morphine. That night, I finally passed one of the stones (it was a big one!). They sent me home the subsequent morning with a prescription for more percocet because I have more stones, and they can't intervene until my daughter is born because it could put me into labor being this far along.
My interrogate is, can so much medication being used for more than a couple of days have any kind of effect on my unborn child? I'd approaching to think the doctors wouldn't do anything that might harm her. But then again, conceivably the pro's just outweighed the risks. Any GOOD answers from people who actually know what they are discussion about would be greatly appreciated. And please don't tell me that my doctor knows what they are doing, and I shouldn't be asking answers.
Well, being that ur so far along, most meds will not affect ur baby. I be worried because I took some pepto and the doc and a pharmacist both told me that the baby is usually more protected from harmful things we ingest in the third trimester. ;)
Don't verbs!
Overall its okay only because you are soo close to the end of your pregnancy and when within labor for people who dont want an epidural or spinal they will offer morphine or percocet so I wouldnt worry too much but simply make sure you only take it when you really stipulation it...and CONGRAULATIONS! on the baby
Answers: I be hospotlized for galstones and was in pain couldn't even breath.they kept giving me stomach-ache medicne like morphine and vicodin.morphine through iv.every 4 hours cause I was 37 weeks pregnant and couldn't distribute me surgery to remove my galblader, until my son was born.I was there for 2 days.sent me home next to vicodin rake evey 6 hours.my baby was born fine. Just 2 months ago.there class c drugs there's not adequate evidence to have harm n your baby doctors bestow you an amount they know should be safe.everything will be fine.goodluck and congrats.
I don't know a whole lot about your situation, but my sister had one only just like yours. She was 30 some weeks pregnant and had to be hospitalized and be put on medication for kidney stones and she deliver a healthy baby at 40 weeks. If you are concerned you could call a pharmacy and ask them if it is past the worst for you to be on the medication while being pregnant. You can even call a pharmacy other than yours so that they wont know it's you. And if they ask any question just tell them you wanted to double check that it be safe for you to be on the medication. Or you could cal a different dr office. I don't blame you it's better to be safe later sorry. Good Luck!
