How heaps ultrasounds does a woman acquire within a typical, complication free pregnancy?
I had one at 8 weeks, when it was confirmed, because my doctor wanted to rule out an ectopic pregnancy. Then I have the gender ultrasound at 19 weeks. I am now 27 weeks and just wondering when I can expect another? I hold heard several women discuss a "growth ultrasound" that sounds as if it is done towards the end of the pregnancy, past 30 weeks. Is this something that depends on my doctor? I am not getting a 3D or 4D one done because they are too expensive.

This depends where you live. In the US sometimes you lately get the early one and another at 20 weeks (the anatomy scan or 'level 2' ultrasound) and that's it. If your doctor requests one for any origin at 30 weeks, it would probably be covered by insurance.
I had:
7 weeks = dating
12 weeks = Nuchal Translucency
17 weeks = anatomy
30 weeks = because of suspected previa
and will have another at 36 weeks because of confirmed previa
Until the previa, mine was an uncomplicated pregnancy -- it still is really, because I've not get previa symptoms anyway!

One surrounded by the beginning of the pregnancy (sometimes) and another at around 20 weeks to do a gender check and to make sure the infant is growing and forming properly. It does depend on the doctor, but most of the time, only 1-2 ultrasounds are needed if the pregnancy isn't complicated.
With each of my pregnancies, I would have single had one. I did have two with respectively though, because with my first one, they didn't hear the heartbeat at 12 weeks, so they did an ultrasound to make sure he was alright. Then, when I be pregnant with my second in my 32nd week, I had be losing weight instead of gaining for the past few visit with the doctor, so they gave me an ultrasound to make sure the toddler was healthy.
No you won't have anymore unless you need a growth scan. This is not doctor dependent. Any doc or midwife will dispatch you for a growth scan if you are measuring big or small for your dates.

One of my friends had one at 20 weeks to tell the gender and she may or may not hold another to see how large the baby is right before she deliver.
I, on the other hand, have a friend who is an ultrasound tech and we have have 6 or 7 - only 2 were from my doctor. I will have another one around 32-36 weeks. I'm hoping to hold another one today. I just love getting to see her.

in the UK it's standard to receive 2 ultrasounds
1 at around 12 weeks which is your 'dating scan' and give an accurate date of your pregnancy and how far along you are

I've had four so far. One @ 6 weeks to determine gestational age, one @ 9 weeks due to loss of symptoms, one @ 20 weeks & then I bought my 3D @ 28 weeks.

It really does depend on your doctor. I had 2 next to my first pregnancy and I have had 2 with this one, the initial around 8-10 weeks and consequently around 20 weeks. The only reason my doctor would do another is if I was have some complications. So "normal" for my doctor is 2 ultrasounds.

second time the very next week we saw our lil bean

Answers: It depends mostly on your insurance. My insurance with the sole purpose covers a single ultrasound to check anatomy / gender. (It will cover more if specifically requested by my doctor because of a medical concern). My OB was considering ordering a growth ultrasound for me around 34 weeks, but next my fundic height (size of the uterus from the pelvis to the fundus, or base) started increasing normally again the next week.
Some insurance companies allow two. I know it is the insurance and not the doctor, because my friend have the same OB and was told it was 2 routine ultrasounds. The singular difference was her insurance provider.
All my other pregnant friends have fallen into the "lofty risk" class of pregnancy and got TONS of ultrasounds.
Ask your doctor's office - they can tell you what their routine procedures are.
