9-year-old vomiting, feel similar to she have a illustrious hallucination...heat?
I tried to take her temperature by mouth but she kept gagging and throwing up, and can't really save her mouth closed on it anyway because her nose is completely stuffed up. Axillary only showed as 98 but she feels so hot I don't reflect that's right. Do you think it's okay to take her temperature within her bottom?
I don't plan to take her to the doctor unless her fever is really high and I can't find it down with motrin because they can't really do anything for the flu that I can't do at home anyway, she's sick but she's not hospital sick.
Definitly go buy an accurate ear thermometer.not the $20 kind that doesnt even work anyways.the $40 or 50 sympathetic.
Give her a cool bath, a cold washcloth on her head, some flat gingerale and some saltines.
If axillary only shows 98, later she may just have a low grade frenzy. I wouldn't give her anything for the fever unless it goes up or she is extremely self-conscious. Make sure she's drinking plenty of water.
You can't really tell if she's running a high warmth by touching her due to your own body temperature.
try taking it below her arm and call an advice nurse she may need to jump to the hospital

Answers: You might try tylenol,or a dif. brand (sometimes kids get immune to meds. and the meds wont work)
Rectal is ok, just make a note of this is not something your kiddo is gonna like...at all. It is however, more accurate than tongue,armpit, or forhead
