2 year weak girls-- what do they close to?

I'm 27 and single. No kids. Not much experience with kids.
My best friend's wife killed herself shortly after the baby be born 2 years ago. Six months ago, he did the same thing,
The baby very soon lives with HIS mom who lives just down the street from me. She's hit a hard time and will be switching job and can't afford daycare, but her hours will coincide with mine so I offered to babysit for her while she's working for free because I know she can't pay a sitter and we live so close and he was my best friend.
I'm going shopping this weekend for some toys and video and things to keep onhand for the kid, but I have no idea what girls that age resembling or what to get, other htan a couple babygates to block off the stairs and some plug covers.
Help?
It kind of depends how "girly" she is. She may resembling Disney Princess toys. She probably would like dress-up clothes too. Good luck, you are doing a nice thing!

Oh, and expect her to be argumentative. She is 2. That is what they are at 2. and 3.
Well why don't you ask your friend's mother to come with you?
She can show you what the child like.
When i babysit my cousins baby who is also two, he's usually occupied with merely watching the tv.
If your friends mother can't come with you, ask her to recommend toys that the child likes.
You could also ask her to bring her favourite toys to your house? seeing as she simply lives up the road.
Aww...you are such a good guy! I wish in attendance were more yous in this world!!

My 2yr old daughter loves anything she can bop to. The Mickey Mouse club house DVDs, my friends Tigger and Pooh DVDs (they’re on TV too...check your local listings.) She also loves phones! She likes to pretend she is talking to mommy, grandpa, MeMa.you know, like a big girl. Every child is different, but most 2 year olds similar to to be big kids, so toy phones, computers, that sort of thing always works. Oh you could get her that V-tech video activity for little children that is very educational and fun. You see the commercials next to the horse thing that they sit on and ride in front of the TV, kind of interacting resembling a Wii.
Mine loves the singing stuffed animals, like the fisher price love puppy, or something.its something puppy. Its multi colored and has all kind of songs and the abcs, 123, body parts.endless fun.
If you ever need help or proposal on what to do, her behavior, feel free to contact me. You are doing a very good article.
Best of luck to you!
Your a real great guy. Keep it up!
I don't know about today's television but I wouldn't recommend today's t.v. shows. (Don't want her thinking about boys already >.>)

Lion King. Pocahontas. Beauty And The Beast. Cinderella.

I like animals when I was young, so some stuffed toyed doggies, kitties, and exotic animals be fun. Something soft...OH I used to be obsessed with baby dolls (the ones that looks approaching they're real that you can change and act approaching a mommy to!).

That's all I can think of.
my daughter is 23 months. She like playing with books, coloring ( color wonder is great because they can only put color on a special paper) cars yes boyish but plentifully of little kids like them, baby dolls, v motion is more expensive but tons of fun, cheap 5 dollar cartoon movies etc.. lots of fun Source(s): 2yr aged at home
get approaching backyardagain toys and dora the explorer toys..they also like the movies of the wiggles and dora and little bear movies.. receive like a little piano..they love the little musical instruments Source(s): my life
Answers:    Good for you! Twos are the hardest age, but the BEST! I've been principle this age for years. Just make sure to keep her busy, busy, busy! When you need downtime, instructive TV is great!

First of all, buy a plastic cover. A shower curtain will do just fine, but a vinyl table cloth works okay, too. Crayons, finger paint, glue, chalk...any art supplies and LOTS of composition! Let her get messy and then use baby wipe to clean her and hose off the table cloth. it's the process, not the product, so just tolerate her get to it.

Make sure she naps at the same time every year. This is important.

Rent movies before you buy them. Your public library might have some. PBS have great stuff during the day. If you have digital cable, the FreeZone often have a GREAT selection of On-Demand shows.

Hit yard sales and thrift stores this weekend for toys. Pretend play is big at this age...so dolls, dishes, kitchen sets, etc are desirable. Manipulatives approaching blocks, LEGOs (the big ones), and stuff are great too.

It's summer! Get her in her diaper int eh back yard and turn on the sprinkler. Pools aren't so hot at this age, but adjectives you need is a hose! Catch bugs! Dig holes!

Check this website for food, craft, and game ideas. I use it within my class all the time!

Good luck to you! She's lucky to have someone in her enthusiasm that cares so much about her. Source(s): http://www.savvysource.com/activities/
dolls. Tea sets, princess dress up, foam interlocking blocks with letters on them, Disney princess movies, stuffed animals.
If you have the space you could find her a touch bed for nap times.
Wow, that's such a nice thing for you to do!

Little girls completely love Barbies (at least I did)

Just MAKE SURE when you buy them to open them and take out adjectives the little pieces (shoes, hair clips, etc..) so she doesnt swallow them and choke..

If that seems like it would be confusing or doesn`t matter what, get her a soft doll made of cloth instead.

Videos? Disney is great. I remember loving the Little Bear videos too.. I watched those ceaselessly when I was little.

Good luck!

Oh and get some "little-kid" snacks. They have special brands and stuff. I reckon gerber sells some for almost-toddlers.
Wow, that is so nice of you! Kudos! I have a 2 year feeble daughter and she loves babydolls with bottles, Barbies (with out the small stuff like shoes or accessories), baby computer type toys that insubstantial up an make sounds, but her favorites are the cheap, basic toys, like blocks, the big lego's, pan with a big spoon, etc. Playdough is always good too, messy, but appropriate. Crayons & coloring books are cheap and fun too. Good luck. Yes, be sure to cover the outlets and maybe even install cabinet locks (my daughter will try to get the cleaning stuff out & "clean" everything, LOL)
Oh... this is trouble-free.
first, lots of barbies, dolls, or polly pockets.
Stuffed animals are good too.
Any Barbie movies or Barney movies would probably be good.
Dollhouses are also good.
Hope I help :) Source(s): Babysitting
you can be fun all by yourself! you don't need to fork out for toys (she will probably enjoy her own favourites anyway).

sing songs, play tickling/chasing games, dress up, hunt for worms in the garden, read a book.

i would take her lead mostly, it sounds similar to she's been through alot. don't try and be over the top fun, if you are a bit of a stranger to her. it'll just freak her out. just chill.

poor tot, give her a hug from me!!

EDIT - also check out a programme on nickelodeon called yo gabba gabba. it's for kids, but funny as hell! here's a link.. yogabbagabba.com (you have need of sound for it BTW)

my 9 month old loves it, even though it is really for older kids!

pious luck, it sounds as though you're going to need it.
Dora, Hannah Montana or just get so frun research toys, Also make sure u buy sometoddler foods & drinks!
