Is Toddlers & Tiaras a horrible show?
I saw a commerical for it on TLC and they're showing a thre eeyar odl wearing a very reavealing suit and shaking her body around. There's a four year old and they say, "I hope everyone but me dies surrounded by here!" and they do retarted stuff like that.
Haven't seen it but enjoy heard about it. Makes me want to throw up multiple times.
The good thing is the exposure the programs extend to a public that know nothing or little about this activity. Maybe the parents that involve yourself in in this will realize they have been living within a pageant bubble. Maybe they will come to see that their parenting perspective has been twisted by an industry that relies on exploiting children and stripping them of their childhood. These parents have happily and even enthusiastically offered up their children to an industry whose only motivation is money, lots of money.
It works because these parents want to believe that their child is the "best". The best what? Certainly not anything that resembles children. But give em a crown and some money, own some creepy guy sing a pageant song directed at their little girls dressed up like 20 year old Vegas showgirls and they are happy because they are this weeks parents of the "best".
Next pageant, a step up, a holiday inn conference room not as close to the airport. What, they hold a tanning booth right there and only 80 dollars for a full body tan!? omg sign me up, but presently I have to get a new bikini for my 7 year hoary, some new make up, a new routine and some unknown music that accentuates that tan. Hmm maybe the strapless sequined lime green gown that we bought because it compliments her prosthetic teeth so okay would do for the finale.
"Scuse me, Christa... Christa...Christa Shelby Lee Lynne! Stop squirming around in there, what have I told you give or take a few fussing when getting that tan sprayed on? Just stop right now, being exposed means no tan lines, do you want tan lines, is that what you want, for everybody to see you hold tan lines!? Well maybe we should just forget just about the whole thing and go home. Well?! Is that what you want, is it? All right, later just stand still and get sprayed. Oh yeah, this tan is going to go and get her the really big crown. We're going to have to buy a new display case, I am so excited."
ITs rather awful. You should hear the moms talk.
Overall, I think they chose doomed to failure examples of pageant children. I was a pageant child, and I never made tiny death threats at people.
They enjoy been over sexualized, and its a shame.
Yess it is
yesterday i saw a commercial and the mom had 2 daughters and she said i hope Felicia wins instead of Megan.. showing favoritism to little baby's and having them shake nearby butts and stuff
i saw that micheal jackson commerical LMAO
No idea. Doesn't interest me though.
i find it entertaining but more of like a train wreck, or bad communication kind of entertaining. the parents that allow that crap are horrible, the show is fun
Answers: It is horrible.
I saw part of an episode last darkness and a mother actually made her daughter burst into tears over a rip in her dress. I think the girl be like 6 years old.
And this same mother was nitpicking at her kids looks. She have 5 daughters and was like "So and so is the prettiest but she has a big nose" Basically tear apart the appearance of her 5 girls. All of them under the age of 6!!
I couldn't even finish watching the episode. I was disgusted by it.
EDIT: Erika, that's the episode I'm talking nearly. My heart was breaking for that poor girl.
Yes. It's disgusting the way they sexually exploit those little girls.
And pagents in common piss me off anyway, why are we in 2009 teaching little girls that their most celebrated contribution is their physical appearance?
Disgusting!
That show is close to a train wreak...but like a train wreak where the train is on fire, and a bunch of decapitated head start rolling out the windows...it's horrible, but you HAVE to watch it.
As far as the parents on that show: they are just horrible general public. It sure is fun to be angry at them.
It is horrible. I feel so sorry for those kids. And the parents are horrible to make their children do that
Yes it's border line child abuse.
Yes, that's a bad show. I quality bad for those kids.
That's nothing. The mothers are a lot worse. Yesterday one said that she preferred one of her fraternal twins because she looked more like her. There be one mother there with a two-three week old little one.
yes. I estimate it's a way for these children's parents to live the lives they've never had.
I think it is shocking, children should be allowed to grow up as children in a past the worst environment. You're exposing your kids to some horrible things putting them into things like that. Source(s): Mother of 3.
No it is not a bleak show. Although most of the parents on their don't seem to be good parents. I don't know why the let the children work that way.
