Lying punishment, is this an extreme one?
A punishment for lying is to put a bar of soap in the mouth or rub a jalapeno on the tongue; is this too extreme? What other punishments would you suggest?
A public house of soap is just fine. After having it done about 2 times to me, I well-read my lesson real good.
If the child is a compulsive liar then maybe not,

I wouldnt do it to my kids right in a minute, but if they kept lying in their teens then I would warn them that would surface the next time they told a lie
Just spawn sure the soap package doesn't contain any warnings about calling Poison Control if the contents are swallowed.
I expect...it's an appropriate metaphor, washing out a kid's mouth when s/he swears...but you need to be 100% sure it's safe, first.
I'm not surprised that a child would sprawl to some of these psychos, if they told the truth they'd probably do the same. Would you just go describe a police officer when you do something illegal? Why's it ok for parents to act like tantrum throwing children?
Answers: Extreme is a relative term. You're the parent. If you surmise it suits the crime and you think that his actions are serious enough to warrant it, later do it. It is an acceptable punishment by society's standards. My mom tried it on me a couple times, and it didn't really take, but she didn't do it for lying. She did it for swearing. I still cuss like a sailor if I don't see my language (which I tend to do a lot more now).
Punishment for lying in my house be usually getting sent to our room for a few hours, or if we lied about something serious we got spanked for lying and sent to our rooms for whatever it be we lied about. Consequently, I tend to not do that anymore. I hope whatever you choose works though. Lying is definitely at the top of my index for "must stop" behaviors.
No the tavern of soap is perfectly fine. I would suggest 1-3 min of soap in the mouth per year of age.
It's not extreme. My parents did it but it was for swearing and getting mouthy. For lying I would do that and if it keep going maybe taking away something that your child loves. Like computer, video games, tv., and video games. I hope this is helpful.
nope i use fire sauce from taco bell when my son lies. i even use it when he back talks.
a dowel of soap works good too (just do not use liquid soap~ it will make them sick)
